The First Descendant is a free-to-play, loot-shooter action-RPG with hints of Destiny but from a third-person perspective, and a big part of its appeal is teaming up with your buddies to take on world-ending threats with futuristic weaponry and earning that sweet, sweet loot for your efforts.

Still, finding a full party would be much easier if The First Descendant were a cross-platform title, and there’s good news in that regard. Here’s all you need to know.

Does The First Descendant have cross-platform support?

Yes, The First Descendant launched with cross-platform support across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, meaning you can party up with anyone, anywhere. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were included, but the game no longer supports the older hardware from 2013, so you’ll need to shift to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S if you want to keep playing.

To unlock multiplayer, you’ll need to complete the tutorial and reach Albion, the game’s central hub area. From here, you can start adding friends in-game, but you can also take on other missions, which feature matchmaking.

Once you’ve reached that point, open the ‘Social’ tab in the game’s menu, and you’ll be able to turn crossplay on or off from here.

Wondering whether you have to complete the tutorial on every platform you’re playing on? Great news – The First Descendant also supports cross-progression, so as long as you’ve linked your various console accounts, you can hop between console and PC to keep the fun going.

The game has just received a surprising collaboration event with skins from Bayonetta, including weapons inspired by the SEGA property, and is currently in the midst of its third season of content which includes, uh, a scantily-clad maid outfit.

There are also new Ultimate Weapons, Ancestors Modules, and new story content, while a Module Trading System is listed as coming soon.
