More images surface from Dwayne Johnson and the cast of new ‘Jumanji’ movie

As if in an attempt to ward off those who see a new Jumanji film as a travesty, more happy-go-lucky images and video from the set of the film have been released by various cast members. They show the stars having a whale of a time in beautiful locations, posing with stunt doubles and preparing for the next shots.

Titled simply, Jumanji, the new film in the Parrish Shoes universe will not be a reboot, or reimagining, but somewhat of a spiritual sequel to the original. Dwayne Johnson previously stated that it would homage Robin Williams’ character, even suggesting that he would be somewhat of a legend in the film’s lore.

Whether you’re happy with that or not, the cast and crew seem to be having a great time. In his latest posting, Johnson put up a picture of three of the main actors: himself, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, all relaxing between shots. Apparently, they all have a few different habits to help them pass the time.

Johnson has been posting images of the cast, set and crew for a while now, but he’s not the only one who finds time between takes to let us in on what it’s like working on the film. Fellow Jumanji actor Karen Gillan has also been posting snaps and videos with her costars and stunt doubles. Often making fun of the tiresome process of filmmaking as a major star at the same time.

Being an actress is hard…

Indeed, being an actress is hard, but it’s certainly much easier when you have a few people to help you out when stunts are required.

Jumanji also stars Nick Jonas, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Alex Wolff, and Morgan Turner, with Johnson, Hart, Black and Gillan playing their “avatars” within the world of Jumanji (as per ComingSoon). That sounds an awful lot like Jumanji may have migrated from board game to video game, though that’s not been confirmed as of yet.

Jumanji is set for release at the end of July 2017.

A strong cast and graphic novel roots make this new Apple film hard to ignore.

Apple just revealed Liminal, and it already looks like a serious contender for its next big sci-fi movie. With a clear sci-fi hook and recognizable names attached, this is the kind of announcement that’s easy to get invested in early.

The project comes from Apple Original Films and pairs Vanessa Kirby with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in leading roles. It’s directed by Louis Leterrier, who’s known for keeping stories fast and visually sharp, which already hints at a more kinetic kind of sci-fi than Apple usually leans into.
