A man and two women stand in front of the pyramids.
Apple Original Films

Apple TV+’s ambitious model of leaning almost exclusively on original content has paid off in a big way, as the streamer now has multiple Emmy and Oscar wins to its name. (Including one of TV’s best shows, Severance.) Every month, Apple TV+ showcases a practical embarrassment of riches when it comes to star talent, and this month is no exception. Although the new content is a little sparse compared to other months, it’s still worth a look.

This month, John Krasinski and Natalie Portman team up for the action-adventure film Fountain of Youth, while Alexander Skarsgård takes center stage as a conflicted, murderous cyborg in the new series Murderbot.

Fountain of Youth

Genre
Adventure, Fantasy, Mystery
Stars
John Krasinski, Natalie Portman, Eiza González
Directed by
Guy Ritchie
Watch on Apple TV+
It is admittedly very difficult to watch this trailer and not wonder if Guy Ritchie just wanted to rip off National Treasure. Treasure hunter Luke Purdue (John Krasinski) assembling a team to steal art that secretly contains clues to reveal the pathway to the mythical Fountain of Youth sounds familiar.

Doing it to honor a family member who dedicated his life to the same fruitless pursuit? Yes, Nicolas Cage did something very similar. In this one, however, we’re traversing the globe, and Natalie Portman is along for the ride as Purdue’s estranged sister, who is emphatically not a believer, but he needs her anyway.

Alexander Skarsgård gets to be his goofiest self in this sci-fi comedy about a security android who secretly gains sentience. To keep his newly discovered secret hidden, he joins a mission protecting scientists on a dangerous planet.

But all he really wants to do is binge daytime TV, which makes these risky security jobs particularly annoying. Murderbot is based on Martha Wells’ The Murderbot Diaries book series.

The House of the Dragon season 3 final trailer just spoiled its most anticipated moment
Rhaenyra takes King's Landing but is already surrounded by plots, betrayal, and threats.
house-of-dragon-season-3-final-trailer

HBO has never been shy about building suspense, so it came as a surprise when the final trailer for House of the Dragon season 3 casually revealed one of its biggest moments up front.

The outcome of the much-anticipated Battle of the Gullet, the centerpiece naval clash that opens the season, is effectively out in the open. Rhaenyra Targaryen wins the battle and takes over King's Landing. For fans of George R.R. Martin's source material, Fire and Blood, this was inevitable. For everyone else, it is a bittersweet spoiler they might have preferred to discover on screen themselves, though the closing moments of season 2 made this development all but unavoidable.

The Hulu app might not be dead right now. But Disney might be working behind the scenes to make you want to use it less. Disney's streaming tech teams are working on a multi-phase plan called Project Gemini, which aims on bringing more of Hulu's content and features into Disney+.

The reports claims that the unified experience is expected to be finished by the end of the year, based on a leaked internal document and two streaming employees. However, Disney told Business Insider that there are "no current plans to sunset" the standalone Hulu app.
