Xoom 2 Christmas ad leaks, 8.2 inch screen and priced at 400 Euros

xoom 2 carphone warehouse leakNow that Halloween is now officially behind us it is time to brace ourselves for an onslaught of Christmas ads. Engadget got found an early Christmas ad from European retailor Carphone Warehouse was nice enough to give the world a sneak peak at the Xoom 2. There isn’t much information we are able to gather from the ad, but we are able to see that the price is set at €399.90, which is roughly $545.00.

Due to the size of the font on the ad we aren’t able to learn too much about the internals of the Xoom 2, but there are two important facts that are quite clear. First the Xoom 2 will feature a smaller 8.2 inch screen, and it will come with Android 3.2 Honeycomb installed. We heard earlier rumors about the possibility of a smaller Xoom tablet coming out way, and the ad does match what we saw earlier. We can see in the pictures that it shares the styling of the Droid RAZR and Motorola Photon with the slanted corners.

Without knowing about the internal components it is hard to tell where exactly the Xoom 2 will fit in the Android tablet landscape. Maybe it will complete with the similarly sized Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, or maybe it will complete with the soon to be announced Asus Transformer Prime performance wise.

One thing we do know for sure is that the possible $545.00 price tag seems pretty steep for a tablet these days. Seeing how you can buy an iPad for $499, and a Kindle Fire for $199 it seems as though the Xoom 2 might price itself out of the market. We are assuming that the actual U.S. launch price will be less than $545.00 when it comes to the States, but at what price point will it actually be able to compete with an increasingly crowded Android tablet market.
