What’s happened? Valve has introduced a new feature for the Steam Deck called Display-Off Downloads. According to the official update, you can download games and updates even when your Deck’s screen is turned off to enjoy your favourite Steam Deck hits.

Good afternoon! We’ve just added a new feature to Steam Deck, allowing it to complete all active downloads in a new display-off low-power mode, before going to sleep. Learn more here: https://t.co/9CvqkAk1bS pic.twitter.com/xcTqGGNaZV

  • This long-requested update is currently rolling out in the Beta and Preview channels for compatible models.
  • The new ‘display-off low-power mode’ allows the screen to shut off while downloads continue.
  • A dialogue appears when you press the power button during a download, asking if you’d like to continue with the screen off.
  • The feature turns on automatically when your Steam Deck is plugged in.
  • If you’re running on battery, you can switch it on manually, and once your battery drops under 20%, it will enter full sleep mode to save power.

This is important because: It shows Valve is addressing core user frustrations rather than just adding flashy features. While other platforms and devices have long let downloads run with the display off, with this change, Steam Deck is finally catching up.

  • Leaving the screen on while downloading drains battery and can generate heat, but a handheld doesn’t need both display and downloads active at once.
  • For people using the Deck as a portable console or for TV-mode gaming, overnight or unattended downloads become more practical.

Why should I care? With this update, you can set your device to update overnight or during low-power moments, without needing the display on, so you save battery and wake up with things ready to go. This is especially useful if you plan to improve visuals with mods.

  • It supports modes where you use the device as a TV-connected box or in silent overnight download mode.
  • Long updates are no longer a headache, as heat and battery drain are reduced, which matters as competition from devices like the ROG Ally grows.

OK, what’s next?

  • Try it out: switch your update channel to Beta/Preview, go to Settings > Power, and enable display-off downloads.
  • Monitor battery life and thermals to see how low-power mode behaves when plugged vs running on battery.
  • Watch for the stable branch rollout: once it’s out of Beta, expect widespread availability and possibly a wider list of supported devices.

MSI’s next gaming monitor can morph between three different resolutions and refresh rates
Why buy three monitors when MSI wants you to buy one expensive one?
MSI MPG OLED 322URDX

Gaming monitors have slowly become one of the most aggressively competitive categories in PC hardware. Over the past few years, brands have raced to push refresh rates higher, improve OLED technology, reduce response times, and deliver increasingly brighter displays. But despite all those upgrades, buyers still usually have to pick one side of the experience. You either buy a super-fast esports monitor with lower resolution or a high-resolution OLED display focused more on cinematic gaming.

At Computex 2026, MSI appears to be trying to eliminate that compromise. The company has officially unveiled the MSI MPG OLED 322URDX36, which it describes as the world’s first triple-mode QD-OLED gaming monitor.

Give yourself the edge in galactic conquest with these cheats and commands
Fleet in Stellaris

Running a galactic empire in Stellaris is an arduous task. One bad war, an economic spiral, or one neighbor with a suspiciously large fleet can turn a promising save into a slow-motion disaster. You may want to fix a mistake, or maybe even want to test a build. And sometimes, you just want to see what happens when your empire suddenly has more alloys than sense.

This is where Stellaris console commands come in. These cheats let you add resources, finish research, control empires, spawn ships, trigger events, or bend the galaxy in ways the normal game usually won’t allow.

Is Rust cross-platform?
Yes, but there's levels to this.
Rust player running by buildings.

Rust is the kind of survival game where choosing the right server matters almost as much as choosing the right weapon. This also reflects on the platform of your choice. If you're you're friends are spread across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, you’ll want to know exactly who can play together before anyone starts building a base.

The answer to the question is simple in one way and annoying in another. Rust supports crossplay between PlayStation and Xbox players, but PC players cannot play with console players. So yes, there is cross-platform support, but only inside the console version of the game.
