Ford GT could be priced at a Lambo-like $400,000

The new Ford GT’s looks and performance reflect a supercar intended to go head-to-head with the world’s best, and so does its newly-revealed price.

Speaking at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Ford Performance official David Pericak said the GT will have a pricetag pretty close to that of the Lamborghini Aventador, which stickers for around $397,500, according to Motor Authority.

So if you want a new GT, be prepared to spend in the neighborhood of $400,000.

Ford says the GT’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 puts out “more than” 600 horsepower, but the Lamborghini comparison makes that number more crucial.

In standard form, the Aventador’s 6.5-liter V12 produces 691 hp, so the GT will need to have a lot more than 600 hp to win that contest.

All of this shows that Ford is looking to reposition the GT. The last version from 2005 cost less than half the 4400K asking price of the new one, and was built to compete against “entry-level” supercars like Lambo’s Gallardo and the Ferrari 360 Modena.

Those GTs have become valuable collector’s items, and that will almost certainly be the case with the new one as well. Ford is reportedly limiting production to just 250 units per year.

The last GT took Ford considerably out of its comfort, but it looks like Dearborn is moving even further into the supercar stratosphere with the new one. Will that gamble pay off?

This AI checks if your driving habits signal crash risk
Researchers say eye tracking, heart rate, and personality data can flag risk early.
Person, Wristwatch, Car

A new AI model is taking aim at a question most drivers don’t ask soon enough. How likely are you to crash before you even start the engine?

The system looks at how you behave behind the wheel, pulling in signals like eye movement, heart rate, and personality traits to flag warning patterns early. Instead of waiting for real-world mistakes, it relies on simulated driving tests to surface behaviors linked to dangerous outcomes.
