Microsoft employee email accounts hacked by Syrian Electronic Army

Oh, that Syrian Electronic Army. What will they do next?

The cyber rascals known as the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA), who to this point have successful hacked into multiple U.S. websites including The New York Times, have also hacked into and gained access to Microsoft’s internal email accounts. This comes after the SEA seized control of Redmond’s official Twitter accounts.

Microsoft responded to the incident with the following statement.

“A social engineering cyberattack method known as phishing resulted in a small number of Microsoft employee social media and email accounts being impacted,” the company said. “These accounts were reset and no customer information was compromised. We continue to take a number of actions to protect our employees and accounts against this industry-wide issue.”

The Syrian Electronic Army infiltrated Microsoft’s company emails because it allegedly thinks that they are sharing user data with governments.

It doesn’t appear as though the attacks will stop with intrusions into Microsoft’s social media and emails accounts either. One of the more recent tweets from the SEA’s official Twitter account reads: “We didn’t finish our attack on @Microsoft yet, stay tuned for more! #SEA.”

What do you think of this latest strike by the SEA on Microsoft? Sound off in the comments below.

Apple is set to increase the prices for its upcoming iPhones and MacBooks, as the company can no longer offset the rising RAM and storage costs. That means, if you are looking to upgrade your aging device, you should buy the current-generation Apple products rather than wait for the new ones.

And since Amazon Prime Day is offering good discounts on the latest iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, and other Apple accessories, this is the perfect time to buy them. Here are my favorite Amazon Prime Day deals for Apple products.
