Everyone’s favorite flustered fowl will stop seeing red and start seeing green with new St. Patrick’s Day levels of the uber-successful game Angry Birds, reports The Unofficial Apple Weblog.

The St. Patrick’s Day update will be part of the Angry Birds Seasons game, which is currently available on devices running iOS, Android, Symbian and WebOS. Angry Birds Seasons is currently a free version of the standard Angry Birds game, which costs $0.99.

The announcement of the St. Patrick’s Day Angry Birds came from none other than developer Rovio’s “Mighty Eagle,” Peter Vesterbacka, who made the reveal at Rovio’s panel at the 2011 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco this week.

It is so far unclear whether the perturbed birds in the St. Patrick’s Day levels will be drunk and/or belligerent. So keep your fingers crossed on that one.

The St. Patrick’s Day edition is only the latest holiday-themed portion of the Angry Birds series, which also includes a Halloween edition, and a Christmas edition.

Rovio will soon release Angry Birds Rio, which will be available later this month, in conjunction with the bird-centric Disney movie, Rio. But that is only the beginning of Rovio’s big-screen ambitions for Angry Birds. According to Vesterbacka, Rovio is “working on [their] own full feature-length movie.”

Angry Birds has already achieve massive success. with “almost 100 million” downloads to date, which puts it in line to become one of the bestselling games in history.

“People were saying we were crazy when we set that target [of 100 million downloads] last year,” said Vesterbacka. “Now, well what can I say? We are doing that.”

An exact release date for the Angry Birds‘ St. Patty’s Day update has not yet been revealed. But Vesterbacka tells G4 that it should be available “well before St. Patrick’s Day.”

Netflix just unveiled Unhinged, and it might be the strangest thing the streamer has ever put in its games tab. Arriving June 30, this interactive horror story does not need a console or controller. Instead, your own smartphone becomes the entire interface, and you receive phone calls that ring straight through your actual device mid-game.
