How to link Fortnite accounts on Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch in 2026

Linking your Fortnite account keeps your skins, Battle Pass progress, and purchases synced across platforms, but choosing the wrong Epic Games account can still cause headaches

What You Need

  • An Epic Games account

  • Your Xbox, PlayStation Network, or Nintendo account login

  • Access to the email address attached to your Epic Games account

  • A browser on your phone, tablet, or computer

You can play Fortnite on almost anything now, but your skins, Battle Pass progress, V-Bucks, and friends list don’t live on your console. They are tied to your Epic Games account.

That’s what makes account linking so important. If you want to move between Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC, or mobile without starting over, you need to connect those platform accounts to the same Epic Games account. The good news is that the process is fairly simple. The annoying news is that picking the wrong account can create a mess you will not want to untangle later.

Before you link your Fortnite accounts

Before you start clicking through menus, make sure you know which Epic Games account holds your Fortnite progress. This is the account that should become the hub for everything else.

If you already play Fortnite on PC, that’s probably the Epic Games account you want to use. If you started on a console, you may have created an Epic Games account in the background when you first launched Fortnite. That account may not feel like a “real” account, but it can still hold your progress, purchases, and cosmetics.

You should also know a few restrictions before linking anything:

  • You can link one account per platform type to your Epic Games account. For example, one Xbox account, one PlayStation account, and one Nintendo account.
  • If a console account is already linked to another Epic Games account, you will need to deal with that first.
  • Unlinking a console account can cause that console to lose access to the Fortnite progress and purchases stored on the Epic Games account.
  • Removing a platform linking restriction is limited, so don’t treat unlinking and relinking like a casual settings toggle.

Basically, slow down for two minutes now so you don’t spend an hour later trying to figure out where your Spider-Man skin went.

How to link Fortnite accounts

If you’re starting fresh, or you’re sure you know which Epic Games account you want to use, linking your accounts only takes a few steps.

Step 1: Go to the Epic Games website and sign in to your Epic Games account.

This should be the account you want to use across every version of Fortnite. If you don’t already have one, create an account first. It is also a good idea to enable two-factor authentication while you’re here.

Step 2: Open your account settings.

Once you’re signed in, select your profile icon, then go to your account page.

      Step 3: Select Linked accounts.

This is where Epic lists the outside services and platforms you can connect to your account.

Step 4: Click the platform you want to connect to.

You should see options for platforms and services such as Xbox, PlayStation Network, Nintendo, Steam, Twitch, and others.

          Step 5: Select Continue.

For Fortnite on console, this will usually be Xbox, PlayStation Network, or Nintendo.

Step 6: Sign in to that platform account.

Use the same Xbox, PlayStation Network, or Nintendo account that you use on your console.

              Step 7: Approve the connection.

Epic will ask for permission to connect with the selected platform. Confirm the request and follow any on-screen prompts.

Once the accounts are linked, open Fortnite on that platform. Your progress, cosmetics, and purchases should sync as long as you connected the correct platform account to the correct Epic Games account.

How to link Fortnite on Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch

The process is mostly the same across Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. The only real difference is the login page you’re sent to.

For Xbox, choose the Xbox option in Epic’s Apps and accounts menu, then sign in with the Microsoft account tied to your Xbox profile.

For PlayStation, choose the PlayStation Network option, then sign in with the PSN account you use on your PS4 or PS5.

For Nintendo Switch, choose the Nintendo option, then sign in with the Nintendo account tied to the Switch profile you use for Fortnite.

After you approve the connection, your console account should appear as linked in your Epic Games account settings. If it does, you can launch Fortnite on that console and check whether your progress appears correctly.

How to link accounts on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and newer consoles

If you’re moving from PS4 to PS5, or from Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S, you usually don’t need to link anything again.

Your Fortnite progress is not tied to the physical console. It is tied to your platform account and Epic Games account. As long as you sign in with the same PlayStation Network or Xbox account on the newer console, Fortnite should pick up your existing Epic-linked progress.

The same logic applies if you replace your Switch or move to another supported device. Sign in with the account that is already linked to Epic, install Fortnite, and your stuff should follow.

                Can you merge Fortnite accounts?

No. Fortnite account merging is no longer available.

Epic used to offer an account merge tool for players who had separate accounts across different platforms, but that feature was discontinued in 2019. That means you cannot combine two Epic Games accounts into one account and pull all of your skins, V-Bucks, and progress together.

If you have progress split across multiple Epic Games accounts, account linking will not magically merge them. It only connects platform accounts to a single Epic Games account. You will need to choose which Epic Games account you want to keep using as your main Fortnite account.

How to unlink a Fortnite account

You can unlink a console account from your Epic Games account, but you should only do it if you’re sure.

                To unlink an account:

                1. Sign in to your Epic Games account.
                2. Go to your account settings.
                3. Open Apps and accounts.
                4. Select the Accounts tab.
                5. Find the platform you want to remove.
                6. Select Remove or Unlink.
                7. Follow the warning prompts to confirm.

Read the warning screens carefully. If you unlink a console account, that console account may lose access to the Fortnite progress and purchases stored on the Epic Games account. If you sign in again on that console without relinking properly, you may also end up creating a new Epic Games account with no progress.

If you’re unlinking because you connected the wrong Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo account, don’t launch Fortnite again until you have linked the correct account. This is one of those moments where impatience can make the problem worse.

What to do if your Fortnite account is already linked

If Epic says your Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo account is already linked to another Epic Games account, that usually means one of two things happened.

You may have linked that console account to another Epic Games account in the past. You may also have created a nameless or incomplete Epic Games account when you first played Fortnite on that console and skipped the full account setup.

Try signing in to Epic Games using the platform login option instead of your Epic email. For example, if your PlayStation account is causing the issue, select the PlayStation icon on the Epic sign-in page and log in with your PSN credentials. That can help you find the Epic account currently attached to your console profile.

From there, you can check the linked accounts page and decide whether to unlink the console account. If you need to remove a platform linking restriction so you can attach a different account of the same type, be careful. Epic limits linking restriction removals, and once you use that option, you may have to wait 365 days before using it again for that platform.

Why your Fortnite progress is not showing up

If your Fortnite progress does not appear after linking accounts, check these common issues first:

                • You signed in to the wrong Epic Games account.
                • You linked the wrong Xbox, PlayStation Network, or Nintendo account.
                • Your console account was already connected to a different Epic Games account.
                • You launched Fortnite before finishing the relinking process.
                • You expected two separate Epic Games accounts to merge, which is no longer supported.

The fastest way to troubleshoot is to sign in to Epic Games with the platform account where your progress appears. Once you’re inside that account, check which Epic Games account it is connected to and which other platforms are linked.

Can you link Fortnite accounts on iPhone or Android?

Yes, but the exact setup depends on your device and region.

On Android, Fortnite can be played through Epic’s mobile options, and you can sign in with your Epic Games account to access your progress. On iPhone and iPad, availability depends on where you’re. Fortnite is available through the App Store in the US, while players in the European Union and Japan can install it through the Epic Games Store on mobile or other supported options.

The linking idea is still the same: use the same Epic Games account everywhere. Whether you’re on console, PC, or mobile, that account is what keeps your Fortnite progress connected.

Behind this new extraction shooter is Bungie's long development history and old baggage from Destiny 2. And amid rumors of layoffs after the end of Destiny 2, there are people who have already decided that Marathon represents everything wrong with live-service gaming. But some of these reviews are before these players have even extracted once.
