Walmart’s Onn brand may be preparing to move beyond streaming boxes and cheap TV accessories. A new certification listing from the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) has revealed an Onn Smart Speaker, suggesting Walmart could be expanding its budget-friendly device lineup into the smart home audio space.

The listing was spotted by users on the r/OnnStreamingTV subreddit, where it quickly sparked speculation about what Walmart might be planning next.

What’s coming in the next Onn gadget

The certification page describes it as a Gemini-powered smart home speaker made by Shenzhen SEI Robotics Co., Ltd. So this positions the speaker around Google’s AI assistant branding rather than the older Google Assistant label. According to the listing, the speaker supports voice assistant features, audio playback, and smart home controls. It also includes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, plus Google Cast for Audio, which should allow users to stream music and other audio from compatible apps.

How Matter support could be big

The device has also been certified under Matter, the smart home standard designed to make devices work more easily across different ecosystems. So the upcoming Onn Smart Speaker might be more versatile than your typical cheap audio device. It may end up serving as a voice-controlled smart home access point for users who want Google-style controls without paying Google Nest prices.

The listed hardware includes a 10W speaker, a far-field microphone array, physical controls, LED indicators, and a hardware microphone privacy switch. The Reddit post had users expressing a mix of interest and skepticism. There is no official Walmart launch page yet, so pricing and availability remain unknown. Still, the certification suggests the product is real and fairly far along.

Spotify verified artist badge

In the age of AI, it is getting harder to know if the music you listen to is made by a real human or generated by an algorithm. Previous reports suggested that Spotify had no plans to label AI-generated music.

However, it seems that the company has changed its direction on this debate. The platform is rolling out a new Verified by Spotify badge, along with additional artist activity details, to give you more context about the artists you are listening to and discovering.

DJI Mic Mini 2 colors

Many streamers and YouTubers use small mics attached to their clothes for better audio, and a black mic looks out of place in most colorful outfits. DJI wants to change that with its Mic Mini 2.

Hot on the heels of the Osmo Pocket 4 launch, the company has launched the Mic Mini 2, a follow-up to the original Mic Mini that launched in November 2024. The big headline? You can now customize the look of your microphone with swappable magnetic covers.
