A smart lock is often one of the first types of smart tech someone encounters, and for the past few years, CES has been a treasure trove of smart lock technology from a dozen different companies. This year is no different at CES 2021. One company that continues to deliver iterative smart locks is Lockly, the same company that wowed many last year (including us) with its smart lock and video doorbell combo, the Lockly Vision.
For this year’s show, Lockly introduces the Duo, a two-in-one latch and deadbolt smart lock that combines both security features into a single, compact device. Lockly’s patent-pending Dual-Locking Technology secures both the latch and deadbolt in a single motion; all you have to do is close the door and lift the latch upward. This solution is ideal for those who have a door with separate locks for their deadbolt and doorknob, so rather than unlocked each individually (with a different key in some instances), the Lockly Duo solves this problem by combining the two.
If you pair the Lockly Duo with the Secure Link Wi-Fi Hub, you can also integrate the Duo with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The digital keypad uses Lockly’s PIN Genie technology, a supposedly hack-proof security layer that moves the numbers around on screen so no one can guess the code by watching you.
Lockly also uses a 3D biometric fingerprint sensor that ensures no one can gain entry by faking your fingerprint. If a guest is visiting, you can give them an Offline Access Code to grant them entry, no app or internet connection required. If you don’t want to give out a code, you can lock and unlock your door from afar with the Lockly app. If your door opens or closes, you’ll receive an alert on your smartphone. This is an easy way to monitor when the babysitter leaves or what time your kids get home from school.
The Lockly Duo is designed to be a DIY-friendly smart lock that almost anyone can easily install on standard doors. The Lockly Duo is available in satin nickel and matte black colors and includes everything someone would need to install it, including the cover plates, strike plates, and more. There are also physical keys to grant you entry, so even if the batteries die you can still get into your home.
The Lockly Duo will be available in the first quarter of 2021 with an estimated price of $400. The Duo combines a number of strong features that should make it one of the most secure smart locks on the market today.
