Motorola Droid 4 Confirmed for February 10 with Verizon

Motorola Droid 4 OpenThe Droid 4 is the latest addition to the ever-extending family of QWERTY-slider Android phones from Motorola. Rumored for many months prior to its CES 2012 unveiling, it was left down to Verizon to provide the last two pieces of the puzzle — when would it launch and how much would it cost.

Last rumored to appear on February 9, Verizon has finally issued a press release confirming the Droid 4’s arrival, and it’s out on February 10. While the date may have been a day out, the rumored price was spot on, as the Droid 4 will require a payment of $199.99 and a signature on the bottom of a two-year contract before it’s yours.

If you’re feeling particularly flush, and want to use the Droid 4 with an even bigger keyboard, then the Lapdock 500 can also be purchased for $299 extra. This is the same dock used for the Motorola Razr and it has a 14-inch screen, a couple of USB ports and an SD card slot, an Ethernet port, a webcam and around seven hours of battery life.

We had a good look at the Droid 4 during CES, and were particularly impressed by its keyboard, plus its use of Verizon’s 4G LTE network.

Also, while you’ll have to use Google Android Gingerbread for a start, Verizon has said an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich will be coming, but didn’t confirm exactly when.

Other features include a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, a 4-inch touchscreen with a 940 x 540 pixel resolution, an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording and 1785mAh battery.

Will you be picking up the Droid 4 on Friday?
