Netflix releases a new 'Luke Cage' clip featuring Marvel's steel-skinned superhero

If you still needed any confirmation that Marvel’s Luke Cage was not a man to trifle with, the latest clip from his upcoming Netflix series should make it official.

The premiere of Luke Cage is just a few weeks off at this point, and Marvel and Netflix released the new teaser for the series to keep anticipation high for the steel-skinned superhero’s solo debut. Titled “You Want Some,” the clip features Luke taking on a group of criminals attempting to shake down a restaurant owner. Naturally, they learn the hard way (very hard, in fact) that punching, shooting, and otherwise attacking him isn’t the best idea.

Luke Cage features the return of Mike Colter as Luke Cage after making his debut in last year’s Jessica Jones. The series has Colter’s character returning to Harlem, only to meet with a new threat that brings him out of the shadows and into the spotlight as his neighborhood’s best defense against the criminals terrorizing it. Becoming a hero doesn’t come without some troubles, though, and Luke must confront the demons of his past before he can move on.

The cast of the series also includes Simone Missick (The Road to Sundance) as Misty Knight, Frank Whaley (Pulp Fiction) as Rafael Scarfe, Mahershala Ali (House of Cards) as the villain Cottonmouth, Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy) as Shades, and Alfre Woodard (Cross Creek) as Mariah Dillard. Rosario Dawson, who appeared in both Marvel’s Daredevil and Jessica Jones series, will also reprise her role as the nurse Claire Temple.

Luke Cage will have Cheo Hodari Coker (Notorious, NCIS: Los Angeles) serving as its showrunner, with Coker also scripting the first two episodes.

The first season of Luke Cage will be available September 30 on Netflix.
