Miramax has officially launched a new Facebook app, which will allow users to watch a variety of trailers and rent streaming feature-length films though the social network, reports paidContent. The deal is the largest such streaming offering on Facebook, to date.

As of today, the Miramax Experience app, which is still in beta, lets US Facebook users choose from 20 feature film titles, which they can stream through Facebook for 30 Facebook credits ($3). The service has also launched in the UK and Turkey with 10 titles. France and Germany are next in line.

“Our goal with the Miramax App is to offer consumers a great user experience where they can watch movie clips and feature length films, play games and share the experience with their friends within the Facebook community,” writes Miramax CEO Mike Lang on the Miramax blog. “And in doing so, we aim to ultimately build our reach to 150 million+ Facebook friends within the next 18 months.”

For US users, the list of movies available through the app include:

Adventureland, Chicago, Clerks, Cold Mountain, Extract, From Dusk Till Dawn, Gangs of New York, Gone Baby Gone, Good Will Hunting, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Kill Bill 2, No Country for Old Men, Pulp Fiction, Shall We Dance (2004), Sin City, Spy Kids, Swingers, The Switch, Trainspotting

In the UK:

Chicago, Cold Mountain, From Dusk Till Dawn, Good Will Hunting, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Kill Bill 2, Shall We Dance (2004), Sin City, Spy Kids

In Turkey:

Adventureland, Chicago, Clerks, Cold Mountain, From Dusk Till Dawn,Gone Baby Gone, Good Will Hunting, Jackie Brown, Spy Kids, Swingers

Those who rent for the service will be able to have access to the movie for up to 30 days. But once a movie is started, users have 48 hours to finish before their rental expires.

The app is also accessible through the Miramax Experience app for iPad and Google TV. And as of right now, that’s likely the best way to go, as they seem to be still working out a number of kinks with the Facebook version. (The app is in beta, after all — and Lang says that they built the app in “just 8 short weeks,” so there’s bound to be some problems.)

Miramax is not the first movie studio to make titles available on Facebook. Warner Bros, Universal and Paramount all have similar deals. But they offer nowhere close to the number of titles Miramax has made available.

In addition to Facebook, Miramax currently has streaming deals with Amazon, Hulu, Netflix and Apple.
