New Batman v Superman trailer wows Comic-Con

Attendees at Comic-Con in San Diego this weekend have been treated to a whole host of exclusive footage and trailers, chief among them a new promo for next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Warner Bros. has since officially released the clip online, so the rest of us can enjoy it too.

The Comic-Con trailer gives us much more background to the film’s main plot: Apparently Bruce Wayne was present in Metropolis during the events of Man of Steel, and he’s not best pleased at the destruction caused by Superman — it seems that a Wayne Enterprises skyscraper was part of the collateral damage as Clark Kent’s alter-ego took on General Zod.

We get plenty of Batman versus Superman action in this new trailer, as well as a better look at Jesse Eisenberg’s take on evil mastermind Lex Luthor. Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jeremy Irons’ Alfred also make an appearance, making this a real treat for anyone eagerly awaiting Zack Snyder’s next flick. Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), and Diane Lane (Martha Kent) are present and correct too.

We also get a teasing visual references to the Joker (who isn’t supposed to be in the movie) and an underwater scene that’s presumably a nod towards Aquaman (who is definitely going to be turning up). Comb through the 3 minutes and 39 seconds for yourself and see if you can pick up any more nuggets of information — chances are that Snyder and his team have thrown in quite a few clues about what’s in store from the movie.

Who will triumph in the battle of the superheroes? Does Batman really stand a chance against the man of steel? Will they both eventually join forces against a greater threat? We’ll find out on March 25, 2016 when the film arrives in theaters in the U.S.

Apple announces new sci-fi film Liminal and I can’t wait for it
A strong cast and graphic novel roots make this new Apple film hard to ignore.

Apple just revealed Liminal, and it already looks like a serious contender for its next big sci-fi movie. With a clear sci-fi hook and recognizable names attached, this is the kind of announcement that’s easy to get invested in early.

The project comes from Apple Original Films and pairs Vanessa Kirby with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in leading roles. It’s directed by Louis Leterrier, who’s known for keeping stories fast and visually sharp, which already hints at a more kinetic kind of sci-fi than Apple usually leans into.

Harry Potter TV series’ first trailer is out and it feels like a replay I didn’t ask for
HBO had a chance to reinvent Harry Potter, but this feels like a visual rerun.
hbo-harry-potter-tv-series

Well, HBO has finally dropped the first trailer for its Harry Potter TV series, set to premiere this Christmas, and it brings you right back to the beginning. That's broadly the only source of a vague intrigue for me, and I'm being generous here. Yes, it sets the stage for what should be a bold reinterpretation of the Harry Potter world. The trailer, however, settles for a safe, almost unimaginative retread.

Alright, so what am I looking at?
