Seth Rogen is getting into the network TV business with the help of The Interview writer Evan Goldberg. As part of their Point Grey Pictures production company, the two are making a political “workplace comedy” with action and suspense elements for Fox called Citizen Floyd, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Little else is known about the 30 minute series, but only a pilot has been ordered so far. Rogen and Goldberg previously announced that they’re also working on a small screen adaptation of DC Comics’ Preacher for AMC, and a comedy called Future Man for Hulu.
The duo founded Point Grey independent film production studio in 2011. So far, they’ve released four films, all starring Rogen: 2011’s 50/50 (also starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anna Kendrick), 2013’s This is the End, 2014’s Neighbors, and The Interview, the controversial North Korean political satire that got tied up in the aftermath of the Sony hack.
Rogen told The Wrap last year in an interview that directing has changed the way he approaches projects, especially if he’s also acting. “If I am acting and directing, sometimes I’ll just see the camera doing something I know it shouldn’t be doing and it will 100 percent pull me out of a scene,” he said. “I feel bad for the other actors because they know they can tell I’m not in it.” It’s not clear if Rogen will also star in Citizen Floyd, but given the nature of the project as a network series, it seems unlikely.
Dan Sterling wrote the comedy, and will serve as executive producer. He previously wrote The Interview, and also recently sold an untitled Chris Miller and Phil Lord-produced pilot to CBS. Point Grey’s James Weaver will also executive produce Citizen Floyd.
Rogen and Goldberg are also currently working on Neighbors 2, subtitled Sorority Rising, which is expected to come in 2016. Dave Franco and Chloe Moretz will star in the sequel alongside Rogen and Zac Efron.
