Best Prime Day Amazon Deals
This story is part of the Digital Trends Prime Day 2025 coverage

With how important phones are these days, it makes sense to want to have a modern phone that isn’t more than a few years old. Luckily, smartphones are some of the most discounted items, and while Prime Day is officially over, there are still some great Prime Day deals that you can snag. That includes everything from more budget-friendly options to the higher-end Apple Prime Day deals, so there are options out there for pretty much everybody, and we’ve collected some of our favorites below. Also, you may want to check out these Prime Day tablet deals for some additional utility.

Today’s best smartphone deals

If you can’t wait until Prime Day officially starts, we’ve got a bunch of great phone deals that are available right now. Here’s what we recommend you buy today.

When do the Prime Day smartphone deals start?

Prime Day smartphone deals are officially on July 16-17. However, early deals are going on now. We suggest bookmarking this page so you can check out the highlights that we spot when deals finally arrive.

Is Prime Day a good time to buy a smartphone?

Absolutely! Prime Day is frequently the best time before Black Friday to buy anything. Crucially, it’s not just Amazon that has the best prices either with many other retailers like Walmart and Best Buy getting in on the act with their own sales. You might even see a few manufacturers get in on the act too with companies like Samsung and Motorola often selling things directly at a great price. Although, of course, if you simply can’t hold out, there are always the smartphone deals we’ve highlighted above.

How to choose a smartphone on Prime Day 2024

Before you dive into any Prime Day smartphone deals, whether we’re talking deals next month or the ones currently available, you want to know what you’re doing. That’s why it’s important to read up on the best ways to choose your smartphone. The obvious first port of call is to take a look at the best phones we’ve rounded up. In an ideal world, pick the best iPhone or Android phone from here and you’re all good. However, what if your budget can’t stretch that far? The best Android phones and best iPhones can get expensive. Here’s a quick overview of what we recommend you consider before making a purchase.

How do you plan on using your phone? It’s important to think about why you need a new phone. Do you simply need to stay in touch with people? Then you don’t need to spend so much. However, if you love to take photos of whatever you’re doing or wherever you’re traveling, it’s important to pick a phone with a great camera like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

It’s also worth thinking about what operating system you prefer to use. Android is often cheaper but many people prefer iOS as it works well with MacBooks and iPads, as well as Apple Watches. It’s sensible to stick to the same ecosystem where possible as you get the most functionality that way. Also, you simply want the experience that’s most fun and comfortable for you.

A good screen is also perennially important with your smartphone. A large screen which ideally is made from an OLED panel means you can clearly see what’s going on and means your phone will double up well as an entertainment device while you’re traveling or commuting. Of course, if you want something super portable and easy to put in your pocket, you may wish to go for a smaller screen. Check out some of the Google Pixel range or the iPhone SE. A foldable phone can also save you plenty of space but it’ll cost you a lot more than a standard phone.

Finally, don’t forget looks. We all like to have a phone that looks good including its color as well as its design. Make sure it fits your personal aesthetic and be willing to pay a little extra for a color that suits you.

8 Siri features that could make iOS 27 a blockbuster upgrade
Apple might be cooking up the biggest Siri makeover ever, and these 8 features could be worth the long wait.
Siri running on iPhone

Siri has been the punchline of the AI assistant world for years. While it was one of the first voice assistants to launch, it has lagged behind the competition for a while now. With the launch of agentic AI assistants, the gap has only become wider, and a string of upgrade delays has only worsened the situation.

While Google's Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude kept getting smarter, Apple's virtual assistant stayed stuck in 2011. But if fresh reports are anything to go by, Siri's woes are about to end soon. The impending iOS 27 update might bring the biggest Siri overhaul in the assistant's history.
