What’s happened? Samsung will raise wireless charging speeds on the Galaxy S26 lineup, expected in early 2026. The Ultra model is set for 25W wireless charging, while the standard and Plus models step up to 20W, ending the long 15W run.

  • ETNews reports Samsung will equip S26 Ultra with 25W and the S26 and S26 Plus with 20W.
  • This would be Samsung’s first wireless charging upgrade in six years after sticking to 15W from the Galaxy S20 through the S25 and the Z fold 7.
  • Moving from 15W to 25W can cut a full charge from roughly 100 minutes to about 60 minutes in theory.

This is important because: If confirmed, Samsung would finally move the daily convenience dial. The change narrows the gap with rivals and ends a long status quo at 15W.

  • Brings Samsung closer to Apple’s 25W Qi2 phones, while many Chinese flagships push 50W or more.
  • Reflects a safety conscious approach since Note 7 even as speeds rise.
  • Makes wireless pads more useful for quick breaks not just overnight stands.

Why should I care? Shorter waits on a pad mean more freedom to charge in small windows. You can top up more meaningfully during a coffee, a meeting, or a drive.

  • Faster top ups during short stops, so less cable hunting.
  • Better alignment with Qi2 era accessories you may already own.

Okay, so what’s next? Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 lineup in early 2026. If the upgrade lands, the details will matter, from charger compatibility to how well speeds hold under heat.

  • Watch for official specs by model, any regional differences, and whether third party pads can hit the advertised rates.
  • Expect a wave of 20W and 25W pads and car mounts, with active cooling preferred for longer sessions.
  • If the upgrade spreads to the Galaxy Z line and midrange, suppliers like Wits, Amotech, and Hansol Technics could see more orders.

Samsung Galaxy TriFold folding

Samsung’s tri-fold phone experiment may not be a one-and-done project after all. A new patent-based leak has suggested that Samsung is exploring a follow-up to its Galaxy Z TriFold phone, and the most interesting part is not just the folding screen. The leak points to a design with an S Pen pocket built into one of the hinges, potentially solving a long-running foldable problem.

What's new in the next tri-fold?
