What’s new?

With 6.4- and 6.7-inch screens for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, respectively, the largest all-day adaptive battery to date, new camera technology, and upgraded security features, it’s no wonder Google has been hyping up their Pixel phones. They’re 5G-capable and come in a variety of soothing colors. They even have a theme system called Material You for you to style your UI to whatever you’re feeling like at the time. Google’s first-ever processor, Tensor, is included and built into the phones and making use of Android 12. The Pixels also include Titan M2, which works with Tensor to give you the greatest protection for your accounts.

Each Pixel 6 has a 50-megapixel sensor on the back to assist in their computational photography. Photos taken can even be retouched with the Magic Eraser. And if you’re active and want to show it, you might also like Pixel’s Motion Mode which allows you the ability to bring a visible motion using selective blurring to your pictures. Similarly, it can be used on backgrounds to bring them to life.

Both Pixels also come with a 128GB built-in storage, with a larger option of 256GB depending on if you get the Stormy Black version – or Sorta Seafoam for Pixel 6 only.

Additionally, when your Pixel 6 arrives, you can finally use Live Translate. A built-in feature that lets you instantly translate messages on your device without any of your data getting passed around or the need for an internet connection. With Interpreter mode, you can also receive help translating live conversations with someone else who is using a different language.

Google has also announced a subscription-based service called Pixel Pass. For as low as $45 a month for U.S. Customers only, you can get your very own Pixel 6 with additional subscriptions for YouTube Premium and Music Premium, Google One, Google Play Pass, and Preferred Care. And if you’re wanting a Pro instead of just the Pixel 6, you can start a subscription for $55 a month instead.

Aside from that, The Pro has everything the Pixel 6 has, and more. With its triple-rear have triple-rear cameras with ultrawide telephoto lens, zoom is increased – and even more so with Pixel’s Super Res Zoom. The Pro can also record 4K video in ultrawide with the front or back-facing cameras and 120Hz to ensure smooth scrolling on your phone whenever.

WhatsApp Plus is here, and you can safely ignore this subscription
WhatsApp wants a monthly fee for what other apps include by default, and that's a problem Meta can't dress up with custom icons.

WhatsApp has fiercely defended its status as a free, no-nonsense online messaging app for over a decade, but a new subscription tier is muddying the waters.

Meta is rolling out WhatsApp Plus, a paid subscription model, to a limited number of iPhone users using the latest version of the App Store.

Apple and Google just put a lock on your green-bubble texts, and it’s about time
The green bubble finally has something to brag about. Apple and Google's unlikely alliance brings real encryption to everyday cross-platform texting.
E2EE arrives on RCS for iPhone and Android phones.

For years, texting between an iPhone and an Android device felt less like a private conversation and more like shouting across a crowded street. Well, that changes on May 11, 2026, as Apple and Google jointly launched end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for RCS messaging.

The long-awaited feature is rolling out first in beta with iOS 26.5 (also announced today) and the latest version of Google Messages.

The Razr Ultra 2026 is everything a flip phone should be, but I’m not paying $1,500 for it
A flip phone was never supposed to cost this much. At $1,500, the Razr Ultra finds itself in an uncomfortable fight against everything else your money can buy.
Motorola Razr Ultra

I'll be blunt: $1,500 is a lot of money to spend on the Razr Ultra, a clamshell phone that folds in half. In fact, it's a lot of money to spend on any smartphone, especially when a Galaxy S26 Ultra or iPhone 17 Pro Max costs less and still leaves a few hundred dollars in your pocket, or throwing in a couple of hundred bucks can get you a full-fledged book-style foldable.

For me, the Razr Ultra doesn't quite make a strong case at $1,500. In isolation, it's a genuinely impressive flip phone that gets all the basics right and delivers the premium experience you'd expect at this price. The Alcantara back, the 5,000-nit display, the silicon-carbon battery, and the dual cameras on the back make it sound like a complete package.
