What’s happened? A new leak hints at a subtle redesign for the iPhone 18 Pro. Apple may be rethinking its back glass finish, potentially making the Pro model look more cohesive than before.

  • According to a Weibo post by Momentary Digital, the iPhone 18 Pro series will use a “redesigned back glass” (machine translation).
  • The new design reportedly minimizes the color difference between the aluminum unibody chassis and the central glass panel.
  • This could result in a more refined, seamless look for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, the tipster claims.

Why is this important? It appears that Apple is experimenting with several design options, including new finishes and back glass materials, as multiple rumors about the phone’s aesthetics have surfaced recently.

Why should I care? Among all the rumors, the one about Apple reducing the color contrast between the glass and aluminum seems the most plausible.

  • On the iPhone 17 Pro, the aluminum frame features a smooth, glossy, yet granular finish, while the glass panel at the center has a textured, matte surface. The difference in finish creates a distinct dual-tone look.
  • To minimize this contrast, Apple would need to closely match both textures and use a unified color treatment across materials. The result could be a more seamless, monolithic design.
  • However, if you’re fond of the current dual-tone aesthetic of the iPhone 17 Pro, the change might come as a disappointment.

OK, what’s next? Unlike previous rumors about new colors or transparent glass, this one suggests Apple is leaning toward a cleaner, more uniform look for the iPhone 18 Pro.

  • If true, the 2026 Pro models, expected to debut at Apple’s September launch event, could feature one of the company’s most cohesive designs yet.
  • Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 series is also rumored to bring a major selfie camera upgrade, promising sharper and more detailed front-facing photos.

Amazon Kindle Scribe

Quick Take

The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is a new breed of e-readers from Amazon. Aside from being your reading companion, it also wants to double as your trusty note-taking device. And it does a terrific job at serving as a digital diary. The color display does a fine job of replicating the sensation of writing on paper, without any of the input lag woes you would notice on an ordinary tablet.

Apple went through some serious engineering gymnastics to make it happen, but is it worth it?
Electronics, Mobile Phone, Phone

Apple's first foldable iPhone has been the subject of countless leaks, and the latest one comes from Weibo leaker Instant Digital. As reported by Notebookcheck, the leak suggests that the iPhone Fold will include the Camera Control button, despite being thinner than the iPhone Air when unfolded.

That's no small feat. Fitting the Camera Control button into a device that slim must have required some serious engineering work on Apple's part. But apparently, Apple felt it was worth it.
