What’s happened? A new leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could support significantly faster charging speeds than its predecessor, thanks to an upgraded charging solution.

  • Previous reports indicate that the top-end model may feature 60W fast charging support, which in itself would be a big upgrade over the 45W support on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
  • However, according to a recent post from leaker Chunvn8888 on X, Samsung will also switch to a new PPS charging solution on the upcoming model, which will reportedly charge the device at 55W until it reaches 15%, and then slow down to 45W until it reaches 70%.
  • In contrast, the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s charging system rarely sustains its rated 45W speeds. It typically only reaches that level below 20% battery, before dropping down to 34W until 35%, and slowing down further as the device heats up and gets closer to 100%.

26U new PPS charging solution is interesting. 55W in the first 15%, then 70%. Compare to old PPS 2.0 45W, who barely mentains 45W, this is a major upgrade. I’m sure the Vietnamese “sạc thủ” will spend of lots times and words to choose a compatible charger for 26U.

Why is this important? Samsung is still playing catch-up with Chinese rivals like OnePlus and Xiaomi, which already offer 80W or even 120W fast charging support on their devices.

  • By offering 60W fast charging on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the South Korean giant could narrow that gap and address one of the few complaints users have had with previous Ultra models.
  • If the new PPS charging solution can sustain higher wattage for longer, users may notice shorter charging times, leading to a better experience in day-to-day use.
  • At the same time, sticking to 60W could help Samsung mitigate the negative effects on battery health typically associated with faster charging speeds.

Why should I care? If the Galaxy S26 Ultra does indeed offer a faster 60W PPS charging solution, you can expect to spend less time tethered to a wall outlet and more time actually using the phone.

  • This upgrade will be particularly beneficial for power users who tend to run out of juice before the end of the day, as it will allow for quicker top-ups when needed.
  • If you’re using an older Ultra model, the improved charging speeds should give you one more reason to consider upgrading to the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

What’s next? Based on recent leaks, we’re still a few months away from Samsung’s next Unpacked event, where it’s expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 series. Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed any details about the devices yet, so it’s best to take this leak with a grain of salt. More information is likely to surface in the coming weeks, potentially shedding more light on the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s rumored fast charging upgrade.
