Adobe bulks up stock service with 60 million photos from Reuters

Adobe announced a new partnership with Reuters to improve the amount of media available through its content platform, Adobe Stock.

Soon, Adobe Stock users will be able to access more than 60 million assets Reuters has amassed inside its growing archive, making it easier than ever for content creators to use multimedia from one of the largest international news agencies in the world.

In addition to Reuters’ news, sports, and entertainment photography collection, Adobe Stock users will also have access to videos, 3D CAD files, graphics, illustrations, and even templates to use inside the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.

There are more than 12 million of Reuters’ photographs already available through Adobe Stock with thousands more being added daily until the entire archive is available. It is expected to be completed within the first half of 2017.

“Our partnership with Adobe will allow us to deliver the quality of Reuters visual assets to a global creative audience, right in their workflow,” said Reuters Chief Commercial Officer Claudia Palmer. “The strength and depth of Reuters’ visuals paired with Adobe’s universal creative platform will unite content search and licensing in an unparalleled user experience.”

It is no surprise that this move is seen as a direct challenge to Getty Images, the Seattle-based stock photography agency that also offers an impressive collection of royalty-free news, sports, and entertainment photography.

By partnering with Adobe though, Reuters is getting inside access to the most widely used content creation suite in the world, making it easier than ever for publications and creators to choose Reuters over another solution that is not directly integrated into the Creative Cloud suite.
