Brother's new laser printers are all work and no play, and that's not a bad thing

Brother introduced a new series of powerful monochrome laser and all-in-one printers to serve a full range of businesses and home offices. The new machines place an emphasis on workflow, high volume, and connectivity.

The Brother L5000 and L6000-series models connect with most mobile technologies, including support for Google Cloud Print 2.0, AirPrint, and Mopria. Most of the models feature a color touchscreen for easy access to the Brother Web Connect interface, which lets a user print directly from popular cloud services such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, and OneDrive. The cloud connectivity also means users can scan to the cloud, using services like Evernote and OneNote. Some models also include NFC support for devices that support it.

But workflow and connectivity are just part of the story with the new machines. For businesses with higher print and scan volumes, Brother is releasing the HL-6300DW printer and the MFC-L6800DW multifunction device. Priced at $399, the HL-6300DW printer can print up to 48 pages per minute (ppm). The MFC-L6800DW, which starts at $699, can also print at up to 48 ppm, and offers a fastest-in-class monochrome scan speed of up to 50 images per minute.

The L5000- and L6000-series include seven single-function printers, six all-in-one printers, and three multifunction copiers. These models will roll out between the end of January and March.
