Selfie craze goes to people’s heads with brush that combs hair, takes photos

Whether it’s a self-portrait shot with a smartphone, a group shot at a family reunion, or that once-in-a-lifetime pose with a prom sweetheart, if there’s one thing that could totally ruin the photo, it’s bad hair.

We’ve all been there. Flip through your physical photo albums or digital camera rolls, and you’re sure to find photos where your mane has a mind of its own. But when photography is all about capturing the moment, how does one make time to ensure they look good before the shutter is pressed? If there was only time to brush up.

Worry no more, as here comes help in the form of the Selfie Brush. And it is exactly what you think it is – a brush that lets you take selfies. It’s both a brush and a smartphone case at the same time, so you can immediately take your picture after brushing your hair without having to switch between devices. Think of all the seconds you’ll save.

But, in infomercial parlance, there’s more! What if someone sends you an urgent message while you’re brushing your hair? In the past, you had to put down your brush, search for your phone that’s somewhere in the bathroom (but you can’t remember where – it’s probably hidden below a pile of toiletry items), reply, put down the phone, pick up the brush again, and continue brushing your hair.

With the Selfie Brush, all you need to do is take the brush off your hair, turn it around, reply, and get back to brushing your hair. And here’s the best part: When you receive a call, just pick it up via voice command and keep brushing your hair while you’re talking on the phone.

As the selfie phenomenon has gone overdrive, the Selfie Brush is either the best invention or the most ridiculous product worthy of late-night TV programming. We know how a bad hair day can ruin a photo, but having a brush designed for taking selfies is a bit much. We’ll let you decide.

The Selfie Brush is coming soon for the iPhone 5 and 5S in a choice of black, pink, and violet colors, with other smartphone models being supported soon (so don’t despair, Galaxy users). No word on pricing and availability yet, but you can check out the official website in the meantime.
