Change is in the air here in Portland, and today, we are very excited to welcome Nick Woods and Ashley Salter to the Digital Trends family. Both are adding to the already stacked talent on the Digital Trends marketing team. Nick is bringing his expertise to the team as Art Director while Ashley is imparting her brand marketing skills as our Marketing Manager. We are excited to see their combined experience contribute to the brand’s continued journey to greatness.

To help get to know our newest team members, we decided to ask them each a few questions:

Where were you before Digital Trends?

Nick: I was running my own studio called Fuzz, a digital boutique specializing in web, motion & development. I’ve also worked at several agencies and organizations in town over the past 8 years, such as Cinco, Roundhouse, & Garage Games, as well as freelanced for Nike, Ziba, Liquid, & AKQA.

Ashley: I was the Marketing Coordinator at Virool, an ad tech startup in San Francisco, specializing in programmatic online video distribution platform. I worked with a small but mighty marketing team to produce and execute highly effective campaigns that helped establish Virool as a leader in programmatic video distribution as well as establish our executive team members as thought leaders in the ad tech industry.

What excites you most about working at Digital Trends?

Nick: I’ve always been inspired by new technology, and the world of digital editorial. So, I’m looking forward to the opportunity to help evolve and innovate in that space.

Ashley: I love being driven by the fast changing, ever evolving industry of technology and online media. This is the first time I have ever been on the publisher side of things and I am excited to be a part of the innovation of the digital space.

What do you see as the future of online media?

Nick: Standard desktop computers are definitely not the dominant force any longer. Mobile devices, smart TVs, and gaming consoles have made watching and reading much more accessible. Eventually wearable tech, in association with augmented reality might change how we experience online media.

Ashley: We are moving away from traditional media consumption on TV and desktop and have the capabilities to consume media anywhere. In the past year we’ve seen a dramatic shift to having to think mobile first. The future is keeping up with all of the emerging platforms like VR, wearable tech and all the cool tech that has yet to be revealed. With that comes the responsibility of creating content that is suited for the diverse and very distinct platforms.

So tech is clearly a shared passion, what else do you love to do?

Nick: I’m a musician and love writing and recording music. Also, photography, screen printing & 3D animation.

Ashley: I am a dancer and choreographer. I have a small contemporary company here in Portland and we’re always creating new pieces for film and/or site specific works.
