What’s happened? Samsung Electronics is reportedly about to enter the mixed-reality market this month with its first Android-powered headset, nicknamed Project Moohan. According to ChosunBiz, the headset will launch later this month.

  • It’s been developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm.
  • Key details like resolution, display tech, and weight are still undisclosed.
  • Pricing is expected to undercut Apple’s $3,500 Vision Pro, which weighs about 600 grams.

This is important because: Apple’s Vision Pro made a splash but has reportedly struggled with mainstream adoption, capturing only 2% of the global XR market in late 2023, according to the ChosunBiz. If these dates prove to be true, Samsung sees an opening to appeal with a more practical, affordable device.

  • A lower-cost device with Google’s ecosystem may finally push XR beyond the niche stage.
  • Launch timing positions Samsung for holiday season sales.

Why should I care? Mixed reality may sound futuristic, but it’s already here. Apple’s Vision Pro is also an XR headset, and Samsung’s launch means Android users will soon have their first mainstream alternative.

  • Samsung’s XR debut signals new competition.
  • If priced aggressively, it could establish a new baseline for what mixed reality costs.
  • For Samsung phone owners, integration could be as seamless as pairing earbuds.

Okay, so what’s next? Moohan’s future depends on more than hardware. Strong content, apps, and developer support will decide if it sparks true XR adoption. Samsung’s trying to make XR more practical for everyday users, and if Project Moohan delivers, it could help push immersive tech into the mainstream.

  • According to the reports,
  • official launch is October 22 in South Korea, with preorder alerts from October 15.
  • Pricing has not been confirmed, but all eyes are on how much cheaper it will be than Vision Pro.
  • Market reaction in Q4 will reveal whether XR is finally ready to rebound or remains stuck in early adopter territory.

This tiny Sony wearable AC sounds ridiculous until the heatwave hits
Sony Reon Pro Plus Wearable Mini AC

Sony has just announced a new wearable, and it's not your typical smartwatch, fitness tracker, or pair of AI smart glasses—it's something a lot more practical. The company has introduced the Reon Pocket Pro Plus, which is the newest version of its wearable cooling device. The Reon line has been around for a while now, starting as a crowdfunding project back in 2019. After expanding across Asia and a few Western markets, the upgraded model is now heading to the UK and Europe.

Sony’s new luxury headphones could fix the XM6’s biggest problem
Electronics, Headphones

We recently reported that Sony could be working on a new pair of premium headphones that might make even the AirPods Max feel relatively affordable. Now, fresh leaked renders shared by Steve H. McFly, in collaboration with Android Headlines, are giving us our first proper look at what’s reportedly called the ColleXion headphones. And honestly? They look very Sony. The Black and White variants instantly reminded me of the Sony WH-1000XM6, especially with the clean, understated design language. Sony seems to be leaning even harder into minimalism this time around, and personally, I think that works in its favor. A lot of headphones today try too hard to look futuristic or flashy. These, at least from the renders, feel far more refined and grown-up.

What is more interesting, though, is the hinge redesign. The XM6 received its fair share of criticism over hinge durability concerns, and according to the report, Sony is reportedly trying to address that with an entirely new hinge mechanism on the ColleXion. From the renders alone, the design does look noticeably different, so there is a good chance Sony is finally taking those complaints seriously.

Apple wants you to verify your identity before you get Education discount on products
Apple moving the US Education Store off the honor system also seems about making a globally consistent verification infrastructure that could eventually support more aggressive Education Store expansion.
Computer, Electronics, Laptop

Getting an Apple Education discount in the United States used to be as simple as claiming you’re a student or a teacher; it didn’t need a formal verification. That era is officially over.

Starting May 8, 2026, Apple now requires formal identity verification for all Education Store purchases in the US, ending the informal honor system that was in place for years (via MacRumors).
