Billie Eilish - No Time To Die

American musician and multiple Grammy Award nominee Billie Eilish recorded the theme song for No Time To Die, the upcoming 25th installment of the James Bond movie franchise, and now the official music video for the song has premiered. Titled No Time To Die (obviously), the black-and-white video features Eilish singing against a backdrop of scenes from the film.

The 18-year-old singer and songwriter is the youngest musician to perform a James Bond theme in the franchise’s history, with Eilish co-writing the theme with her brother and frequent musical collaborator, Finneas.

In January, the announcement of her involvement with the film was teased for several days before being confirmed by Eilish herself on social media, as well as the official social media account for the James Bond franchise.

“It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way,” said Eilish in a statement regarding the project. “To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

Finneas alluded to the iconic status of past James Bond themes in his own statement regarding the project.

“There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of Goldfinger and Live And Let Die.” he said. “We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.”

Eilish won five Grammy Awards at the ceremony held in January, including Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist, tied to her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?. She holds the distinction of being the youngest musician to receive nominations in the four primary Grammy Award categories in a single year.

Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and featuring Daniel Craig as James Bond in his fifth installment of the long-running franchise, No Time To Die finds James Bond peacefully enjoying retirement until his friend and CIA officer Felix Leiter (Westworld actor Jeffrey Wright) pulls him out of retirement to help find a missing scientist. Academy Award winner Rami Malek portrays the film’s mysterious villain, Safin, while Captain Marvel actress Lashana Lynch plays a new character who takes over the “007” designation after Bond’s retirement.

No Time To Die is currently scheduled to hit theaters November 20, but could have its premiere postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Apple announces new sci-fi film Liminal and I can’t wait for it
A strong cast and graphic novel roots make this new Apple film hard to ignore.

Apple just revealed Liminal, and it already looks like a serious contender for its next big sci-fi movie. With a clear sci-fi hook and recognizable names attached, this is the kind of announcement that’s easy to get invested in early.

The project comes from Apple Original Films and pairs Vanessa Kirby with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in leading roles. It’s directed by Louis Leterrier, who’s known for keeping stories fast and visually sharp, which already hints at a more kinetic kind of sci-fi than Apple usually leans into.

Harry Potter TV series’ first trailer is out and it feels like a replay I didn’t ask for
HBO had a chance to reinvent Harry Potter, but this feels like a visual rerun.

Well, HBO has finally dropped the first trailer for its Harry Potter TV series, set to premiere this Christmas, and it brings you right back to the beginning. That's broadly the only source of a vague intrigue for me, and I'm being generous here. Yes, it sets the stage for what should be a bold reinterpretation of the Harry Potter world. The trailer, however, settles for a safe, almost unimaginative retread.

Alright, so what am I looking at?
