We’ve got some awesome pictures of the Epic Edition of Gears of War 3 and simply put it’s truly Epic.

Many times, game companies are criticized for releasing ‘special editions’ that come with little more than game art and a making of DVD. Not so with Epic’s latest fan service. It appears Epic Games have really gone all out with the latest special edition giving hardcore fans plenty to be excited about.

The Gears of War 3 Epic Edition comes with a limited edition statue of Marcus Fenix. The statue was designed by Epic Game’s own Chris Perna and captures all the detail fans expect from the gruff and tough COG warrior.

Also included in the Epic Edition are some personal items belonging to Adam Fenix, Marcus’ father. His last will and testament, a replica of the ‘Octus Service Medal’ he received for his work on the Hammer of Dawn, family photos and a personal letter to Marcus. Ever thought of building your own orbital doom cannon? The Epic Edition includes a detailed schematic of the Hammer of Dawn itself. Nerds and would-be-world-conquerors rejoice.

For those who enjoy reading up on everything Gears of War, Epic has included the Art and Design of Gears of War penned by Extra Lives author Tom Bissell. With it, fans will learn just about everything they ever wanted to know about the creation of the Gears of War series.

Last but certainly not least, the Epic Edition comes with, of course, a copy of the game, several multiplayer unlockables such as the Infected Omen Weapon Pack, which gives player some skin options for their starting weapons, and the Adam Fenix multiplayer character.

Gears of War 3 is set to release on September 20th for the Xbox 360 and the Epic Edition will set you back a hefty $149.99.

Is $149.99 too much for a special edition? Sound off in the comments below and share your thoughts.
