Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified wasn’t really announced for PlayStation Vita at E3 2012. Sony introduced the name, Activision agreed that the game existed, but there was no trailer, no details, no information of any kind to confirm that it was in fact a real game. Declassified is supposed to come out this fall, but who knows what it will be when it does?

Apparently Amazon.com is a little bit more in the know. The online retailer put up a product page for Call of Duty Black Ops: Declassified on Tuesday and included the first real details known about the game.

The product description reads: “Before the future could be won, history had to be written. Exposing that story exclusively on PlayStation® Vita, Call of Duty®: Black Ops Declassified explores original fiction in the Call of Duty® Black Ops universe with an all-new campaign of Special Ops missions.  Optimized for gamers on-the-go, Call of Duty® Black Ops: Declassified delivers the most intense handheld Call of Duty® experience to date, including both Special Ops Story mode and Multiplayer combat tailored for the PS Vita.”

It seemed assured that the Vita version of Call of Duty would include a multiplayer mode, but it’s reassuring to see it confirmed by Amazon’s listing. What’s peculiar about the description though is the emphasis on a new “Special Ops” campaign. Singling out an additional campaign seems to imply that the Vita game might be a modified port of 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Amazon’s projected release date is concerning as well. The retailer has a placeholder date of Dec. 31, not especially encouraging for a game that’s never been publicly shown.
