With the GT-R getting the lion’s share of the glory, it’s sometimes easy to forget Nissan’s more-affordable 370Z sports car, and its even sportier NISMO variant.
A refreshed 2015 Nissan 370Z NISMO was unveiled Friday at the ZDayZ event in Fontana Dam, North Carolina, with a host of upgrades that are sure to get buyers’ attention.
On the outside, the 2015 370Z NISMO ditches the 2014 model’s elongated nose in favor of a more aggressive front fascia with bigger air intakes and LED daytime running lights.
According to Nissan, the new bodywork is more aerodynamic than before, and was inspired by the GT-R. The red accent striping is a nice touch.
The 2015 NISMO 370Z also features a downsized rear spoiler and restyled 19-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels.
Interior upgrades include black-and-red leather Recaro sport seats that are exclusive to the 370Z NISMO, and a new Tech trim level, which includes navigation, Bose audio, RearView Monitor, and SiriusXM and Bluetooth streaming audio capability. It’s a lot of luxury for a supposedly track-focused sports car.
Fans may also find the new seven-speed automatic transmission inappropriate, but a six-speed manual with Nissan’s SynchroRev Match feature is still available.
Unchanged is the 3.7-liter V6 engine, which produces the same 350 horsepower (18 more than a standard 370Z) and 276 pound-feet of torque as the current 370Z NISMO.
The 2015 370Z NISMO still features the same mechanical upgrades as well, including a strut-tower brace, a NISMO-tuned suspension, bigger brakes, and a limited-slip differential.
The 2015 Nissan 370Z NISMO goes on sale in July. Pricing will be announced closer to that time.
