If you have ever watched your cat get distracted mid-zoomies by random stuff, you are going to love Pixar’s upcoming movie. Disney and Pixar have released the first trailer for Gatto, and it looks like a love letter to cats, Venice, and beautiful animation all rolled into one.

What is Gatto actually about?

Set in the canals of Venice, Gatto follows Nero, a black cat who has spent years navigating a city shaped by superstition. Nero is starting to wonder if he has been living his nine lives the right way. Things get complicated when he finds himself in debt to Rocco, a powerful feline mob boss. Nero’s life takes an unexpected turn when a surprising friendship pushes him toward a bigger purpose.

The trailer balances humor with heart, while the film’s mobster-cat setup adds a playful twist. Between the stunning artwork, Venice setting, and a cat leading the adventure, Gatto already feels like one of Pixar’s most unique originals in years, including this year’s Hoppers.

The Gatto trailer also introduces the film’s voice cast, with Mark Ruffalo voicing Nero and Laurence Fishburne playing Rocco. The film is directed by Enrico Casarosa and produced by Andrea Warren, the same team behind the Oscar-nominated Luca, also set in Italy.

What makes Gatto feel different from other Pixar movies?

Gatto is Pixar’s first-ever hand-painted animated feature that blends hand-painted textures with its signature CGI. It is a bold, creative swing from a studio that has leaned heavily on its glossy CGI identity for over 30 years.

For cat people, Pixar seems to understand exactly what makes felines fascinating. Nero is curious, stubborn, independent, and constantly finding trouble. He is also a black cat, a choice that ties directly into the story’s themes of superstition and belonging.

The movie arrives in theaters on March 5, 2027. If the trailer has done its job, you may already be counting down the days.

Sixteen years ago, The Social Network turned the origin story of Facebook into one of the most acclaimed films of the century. Now, Aaron Sorkin is back, and this time he is writing and directing. Sony Pictures dropped the first full trailer for The Social Reckoning today, and it is exactly as intense as you would hope.

This is technically not a direct sequel but a companion piece, and it is focused on what happened after Facebook grew from a dorm room idea into a platform that reshaped the world, and not always for the better.
