Outriders is the latest to come from developer People Can Fly, the studio behind the 2011 first-person shooter Bulletstorm as well as the 2013 hit Gears of War: Judgement. The game is a sci-fi third-person shooter set up for solo or co-op play with up to two other players and features RPG-style character progression and customization, not unlike the hugely popular Destiny franchise.

Although you can go at it solo, Outriders is built with co-op in mind. The game takes place in a futuristic post-apocalyptic landscape where players will enter fierce combat with a variety of deadly foes, from elite soldiers to monstrous beasts. You’ve got more than just a large arsenal of weapons to tackle your opponents, though; you will also be able to wield unique energy-based abilities in your struggle to navigate the harsh environment, dominate your enemies, and track a mysterious signal that has drawn out the last remnants of humanity in a desperate search for the key to survival.

If you create (or already have) a free Square Enix Members account, you can download a free demo and give Outriders a spin right away. Your character and progress in the demo will carry over to the full game. Along with the Best Buy rewards bonus, you also get some other goodies in the Hell’s Rangers Pack when you pre-order the Day One Edition. This pre-order bonus pack includes character gear sets, 11 unique guns, and some exclusive truck mods and decals.

Following a couple of delays to allow devs to fine-tune the game, Outriders has been finally greenlit for an official launch date of Thursday, April 1. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. My Best Buy members will also get a free $10 in rewards when they pre-order Outriders now, and it costs nothing to set up a My Best Buy rewards account.
