Blizzard reveals pricing details for Hearthstone single-player expansion

Blizzard has set pricing for the recently confirmed single-player expansion of Hearthstone, Curse of Naxxramas, as revealed on the game’s official website. The five ‘wings’ of Naxxramas will be released weekly at $6.99 or 700 gold of in-game currency per wing.

Players that begin their adventure in Naxxramas during the launch event period will be given free access to the first wing, the Arachnid Quarter. The four subsequent wings — Plague Quarter, Military Quarter, Construct Quarter, and the Frostwyrm Lair — will release in the weeks that follow and can be purchased individually or as one of several bundles.

Four wings bundle together for $19.99, three wings bundle together for $14.99, and two wings bundle together for $9.99. There’s also a $24.99 option that gets you all five, if you should happen to miss the freebie during the launch window. Purchasing a bundle does not immediately allow the player access to all wings, as Blizzard will be sticking to its “one-wing-a-week” schedule.

Included in this announcement is the reveal of a new “Heroic” mode in the Curse of Naxxramas expansion. Once you defeat all the bosses in a given wing, you unlock Heroic mode for that wing. In Heroic mode, the bosses are significantly more difficult, meant to challenge even the most seasoned Hearthstone players.

More details on the specific release date of the Curse of Naxxramas expansion will be revealed “later on” says the press release.

I played like a rat in Arc Raiders, and the loot was disgustingly good
Ratting my way downtown to the best gear
An ambush in Arc Raiders

I did not go into Arc Raiders planning to play like a rat. After a few bad runs, I had lost some of my good gear and just wanted to blow off some steam in the game's unofficial PvP arena "Stella Montis". In the best-case scenario, the goal was to go in guns blazing, borrowing some fine piece of equipment from fellow raiders, and booking it to the extract. The worst-case scenario, where I would lose everything, didn't bother me since I was running a free loadout.

Stella Montis has a reputation. It is built for tight and tense corridors that encourage player engagement. But another reason for its infamy is how it exposes one of the players' biggest frustrations with this game, which is the free leadout problem. Free loadout players arrive with a basic gun, ammo, shield, and health, which is not much on paper, but enough to become dangerous when they have nothing meaningful to lose.
