Publisher Deep Silver announced that a remastered Dead Island series compilation will launch for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC platforms on May 31, bundling the franchise’s first two games with a collection of DLC and other bonus material.

Dead Island Definitive Collection includes remastered versions of 2011’s Dead Island and its 2013 sequel Dead Island: Riptide, along with Dead Island Retro Revenge, a newly revealed series spinoff presented in the style of 16-bit side-scrollers.

Dead Island is a first-person action-RPG in which players find themselves trapped in an island paradise besieged by bloodthirsty zombies. Players explore an expansive open world alone or with friends in an included online co-op mode, using improvised weaponry to fend off wandering undead hordes.

The standalone expansion Dead Island: Riptide featured new environments and a new cast of playable survivors, but otherwise did little to evolve Dead Island‘s core gameplay. Riptide retains the original game’s focus on melee combat and experience-based progression, as well as its online co-op component.

Both games saw a significant quantity of add-on DLC released after launch, including standout expansions like Bloodbath Arena and Ryder White’s Campaign. All previously released series DLC is included as part of Dead Island Definitive Collection.

Deep Silver has revealed few details regarding the bundled bonus game Dead Island Retro Revenge, but notes that players can expect to “Pull off crazy combos, collect power-ups, wield super weapons, and unleash insane magic attacks as you fight to become the amazing 16-bit side-scrolling hero you’ve always believed yourself to be!”

In addition to being bundled as part of Dead Island Definitive Collection, remastered editions of Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide will be available for download separately via the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, and Steam on May 31st. Dead Island Retro Revenge will also premiere as a standalone download at the end of March across all supported platforms.
