Discord and Xbox have teamed up several times over the years, usually with Xbox offering Discord Nitro perks through one of its own subscription plans, such as the Game Pass Ultimate. This time, the arrangement is flipped. Discord is now offering Xbox Game Pass “Starter Edition” as a reward for buying Nitro.

The Game Pass Starter Edition is part of Discord’s new benefit program called Nitro Rewards, which also includes other attractive offerings like discount coupons for gaming peripheral brands and additional monthly Orbs.

What does Nitro get you now?

Until now, Nitro has mostly been about making Discord better to use every day. Subscribers paid for perks like custom profiles, animated avatars, profile banners, HD video streaming, and bigger file uploads, among other features. That remains part of the package, but the new Game Pass perk gives Nitro a much stronger appeal.

Discord Nitro costs $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, with the Game Pass Starter Edition being added at no extra cost. According to Discord, the starter edition includes more than 50 PC and console games that members can download and play, including Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, Overcooked 2, and Grounded. It also includes 10 hours of Xbox Cloud Gaming each month.

Is Nitro becoming a gaming bundle?

That certainly seems to be the direction. Nitro Rewards also offers discounts of up to 30% on Logitech G products, 15% off SteelSeries gear, and 20% off KontrolFreek, with offers expected to rotate over time. Nitro members will also receive 250 Orbs every month, along with an Orbs multiplier for completing Quests.

Nitro Rewards will roll out over the next few weeks in eligible regions, so some subscribers may not see the new perks right away. The Game Pass Starter Edition also appears to be aimed at Nitro members who do not already have an active Xbox Game Pass subscription. Still, it makes Nitro a lot easier to sell, and for Xbox, it is a smart way to put Game Pass in front of players who are already using Discord to hang out. So, it looks like a win-win situation for both parties.

Nintendo just made life harder for Switch 2 scalpers
Playtime history now decides who can buy a Switch 2
Mario Kart World plays on a Nintendo Switch 2 screen.

Nintendo is introducing a new account-history requirement for Switch 2 purchases in Japan to keep consoles away from resellers. The move targets the multi-language Nintendo Switch 2 sold through the official Japanese Nintendo Store, which scalpers have been buying in bulk because it can be bought for less in Japan and resold abroad.

The price difference explains why scalpers are interested. In Japan, the multi-language Switch 2 is considerably cheaper compared to some other markets. That gap gives resellers room to import units and mark them up overseas, especially while official stock remains limited. The Japan-exclusive model, which only supports Japanese text and characters, is not affected by the new rule.

Intel’s Arc G3 Extreme could be the plot twist handheld gaming needed
My time with the MSI Claw and Acer Predator Atlas suggests AMD finally has genuine competition.
Intel Arc G3 Extreme Hands On with Acer Predator Atlas 8

If there’s one gadget category I’ve spent an unhealthy amount of time obsessing over in the past few years, it’s handheld gaming PCs. I’ve put hundreds of hours into the Steam Deck, bought an original ROG Ally for myself, and most recently reviewed the ROG Xbox Ally X in depth. I’ve seen this market evolve from a cool experiment into something that can genuinely replace a gaming laptop for quick sessions on the couch or while travelling. I’ve also experienced its biggest weakness firsthand. No matter how good these machines get, there’s always some compromise lurking around the corner, whether it’s battery life, thermals, performance, or software quirks.

So when I landed at Computex 2026 and got the chance to spend time with Acer’s brand-new Predator Atlas 8 and MSI’s latest Claw 8 EX AI+, I was naturally excited. Not just because they looked cool, but because they represented something the handheld market desperately needed: real competition. Truth be told, Intel’s new Arc G3 Extreme processor might just be the most important handheld announcement we’ve seen in years. And honestly? It’s about time.
