When it was released earlier last year, developer Roll7’s OlliOlli was a breath of fresh air. While ostensibly a skateboarding game, it played more like a 2D platformer that happened to have grinds and tricks. Before long, the game seemed to be on every platform in existence, including the PC.
The game’s sequel, OlliOlli 2: Welcome to OlliWood was released earlier this year, but only launched on consoles. For a while it seemed that it would stay that way, but earlier this week a Steam page for the game popped up, confirming that not only would OlliOlli 2 come the the PC, but to Mac and Linux as well.
At first the Steam page only listed a release date of “Summer 2015,” but now that has been replaced with a proper date: August 11.
The sequel is essentially more of the same, but a whole lot prettier, and that’s far from a bad thing. The combo system has been expanded, adding manuals, reverts, revert manuals and grind switching, all of which should make it easier to hit the game’s high score goals. The “Tricktionary” has been expanded as well, adding 540 Shove-its, Anti-Casper Flips, Darkslides, and more.
New environments have been added as well. OlliOlli 2 features five new worlds and 50 new tracks each for both the Amateur and Pro modes. The game also adds 250 new challenges, “along with the return of the much loved Daily Grind, Spots Mode, and RAD Mode,” according to the OlliOlli 2 Steam page.
One more key addition to the game is a new local multiplayer mode. Combo Rush is a party mode that supports up to four players in split-screen and four different game types.
OlliOlli 2: Welcome to OlliWood sells for $15, and will be available via Steam, GOG, and the Humble Store. For a closer look at what the game has to offer, check out the launch trailer below.
