PlayStation Optimus Prime to ‘roll out’ for Japan in 2015

The leader of the Autobots has been reimagined as an original PlayStation as part of a collaboration project celebrating the 30th anniversary of Transformers and the 20th anniversary of PlayStation (via Polygon). Coming in 2015 from toymaker Takara Tomy is the “Optimus Prime featuring Original PlayStation” to go along with the already announced Mega Drive Megatron (Mega Drive being the Japanese name for the Sega Genesis), which is due to be released in September 2014, in Japan.

In addition to the Transformers, Takara Tomy is also producing a line of mini replica PlayStation consoles, celebrating the history of the PlayStation brand.

Currently we only have a concept drawing of the PlayStation Optimus Prime, but according to the PlayStation Community Blog Japan, a functional prototype of the model will be shown at the Wonder Festival toy/hobby show happening this weekend in Tokyo.

With Takara Tomy now hard at work on the second of these console Transformers, can we expect more? Who would be next? An NES (or Famicom) Ratchet? A Dreamcast Jazz?  Hopefully these consoles don’t run on Energon, that stuff is hard to find…

I played like a rat in Arc Raiders, and the loot was disgustingly good
Ratting my way downtown to the best gear
An ambush in Arc Raiders

I did not go into Arc Raiders planning to play like a rat. After a few bad runs, I had lost some of my good gear and just wanted to blow off some steam in the game's unofficial PvP arena "Stella Montis". In the best-case scenario, the goal was to go in guns blazing, borrowing some fine piece of equipment from fellow raiders, and booking it to the extract. The worst-case scenario, where I would lose everything, didn't bother me since I was running a free loadout.

Stella Montis has a reputation. It is built for tight and tense corridors that encourage player engagement. But another reason for its infamy is how it exposes one of the players' biggest frustrations with this game, which is the free leadout problem. Free loadout players arrive with a basic gun, ammo, shield, and health, which is not much on paper, but enough to become dangerous when they have nothing meaningful to lose.
