Three robots show their skills in ‘Recore’ trailer debuted at E3

Last year, we got introduced to ReCore, a third-person adventure game that’s exclusive to Microsoft’s Xbox One and Windows 10. It’s co-developed by Comcept, which was founded by former Capcom employee and Mega Man illustrator Keiji Inafune, as well as Armature Studio. The two studios have worked together to form a new universe, one where you play as a solemn survivor of the human race and forge friendships with the little robots you see in the video above. Well, at least some of them are small. Today, during Microsoft’s E3 2016 press conference, the team finally showed off some actual gameplay.

The fast pacing and clear visuals strike a tone reminiscent of games like Ratchet & Clank, and we even see resemblances to Beyond Good & Evil. In the trailer, we see four characters, one human and three out of five robots. There’s Joule, the main character who will be controlled by the player throughout the journey in the world of Far Eden. The relationship between robot and human seems pretty evident — each robot represents a particular skill and can help Joule in their own special ways. Mack, who both looks and sounds like a dog, can fight alongside you in battle and dash through the enemies. Mack is an “explorer” but it’s uncertain what that entails. The same goes for the rest of the robot crew. Seth is an “escape artist,” and looks like it can provide help in reaching distant areas. Duncan is a heavy hitter and, well, looks to come in handy in battles and (if we speculate) lifting heavy materials.

Joule looks like she has a good assortment of weapons. She can use a grappling hook to move around — she also uses it on Seth at one point in the trailer. That same hook is also used to grab a hold of the energy spheres that power the robots — stealing one means you can put it into another. However, it’s unclear if you’ll be able to use several robots at the same time or if you’re restricted to one robot companion at a time.

The graphics look good and are properly stylized to fit the smaller crew working on the game. When the game was announced last year, it received both praise and hype from the gaming community. Anyone familiar with Inafune knows that he’s worked on a good number of high-quality titles. Armature Studio has members who have worked on Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for the Nintendo Wii. If the combined talent work well together, we can probably look forward to an excellent platformer this fall.

The game is set to launch September 13, and will be available on Xbox One and Windows 10.

Sony is helping bury physical games, and preservation is being left to clean up the mess
A reported 2028 cutoff for PS5 discs gives the industry a deadline it still doesn’t seem ready to handle.

Sony’s reported plan to stop producing PS5 discs in 2028 would push PlayStation deeper into a digital-first future, where access depends on licenses, storefront policy, and platform support lasting longer than companies usually promise.

That’s tidy for Sony and ugly for game preservation. Physical media was never a perfect archive, but removing it before a serious replacement exists turns the survival of old games into someone else’s emergency. It also raises questions about long-term ownership, resale rights, and whether players can truly rely on purchases to remain accessible decades later.

In this economy, Cinder City is asking for 64GB RAM. The rest of its PC specs are even weirder. [Update]
Remember when 16GB RAM was enough?

Update: After our story went live, the team behind Cinder City reached out to clarify that the 64GB RAM recommendation was simply a mistake. The Steam page has since been updated to recommend 32GB of RAM instead. As also shared on Steam, the team noted that the current specs are based on an in-development build, and the final system requirements at launch could end up being lower than what's currently listed. So, no, you probably don't need to start shopping for another 32GB RAM kit just yet. The original story is as follows.

For years, PC gamers have joked that game developers treat hardware requirements like a shopping list. Cinder City might have just taken that joke a little too seriously. The game's newly listed recommended PC specs ask for a whopping 64GB of RAM. That's a figure that's raising eyebrows because almost everything else on the list looks surprisingly… normal.
