Only 501 Star Wars fans will get to own this limited-edition LG OLED TV

LG is producing a very limited Star Wars edition of its 65-inch C2 OLED Evo TV. Only 501 units will be sold in the U.S. and as yet, LG hasn’t said how much these TVs — which have a strong Darth Vader vibe — will cost, or when they will be available to purchase, saying simply that, “the TV will be available via LG.com with specific availability announced at a later date,” according to a press release. The announcement comes one day after the latest addition to the Star Wars franchise, Obi-Wan Kenobi made its debut on the Disney+ streaming service.

So while we don’t know when these TVs will be sold, LG has released a few teaser images which we’ve included here. For those who want to see the Sith Lord’s screen in the flesh, your first chance to do so will be at LG’s exhibit at the Star Wars Celebration, from May 26-29 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Digital Trends reviewed the LG C2 OLED Evo TV earlier in 2022 and, based on its performance, it’s one of the best screens you can get for watching Star Wars or any other epic movie you can think of.

The special Star Wars edition C2 appears to have a slightly brighter finish on its metal and aluminum parts than the standard version, and the back panel is adorned with an Imperial crest. When you power it up, LG says you’ll be treated to the unmistakable sound of Darth Vader’s breathing. LG’s webOS-powered interface will also get the Star Wars treatment, though no screenshots were made available at the time of the announcement.

But the element that will no doubt inspire the biggest grins on the faces of those lucky few who buy one of these TVs is the remote control. LG has created a Star Wars-branded version of its Magic Remote and says it mimics the look of a lightsaber.  Whose lightsaber? That’s likely up to your imagination, but we appreciate that LG used a red accent light when photographing the remote (see below) — Vader would no doubt approve of that artistic decision.

Each TV will come packaged in shipping boxes that are heavy on Darth Vader imagery and will include a numbered certificate of authenticity inside. Speaking of imagery, the TVs will ship preloaded with 32 Star Wars-related images in two categories: Star Wars: Conceptual Designs and Star Wars: Journey of Darth Vader, which can be displayed via the TV’s OLED Gallery app.

We’ve included the images here too, so that’s one less aspect that can be considered exclusive to the TV.

Star Wars: Journey of Darth Vader

Why only 501 units? Star Wars fans probably already know the answer, but for the less well-versed among us, it’s because Darth Vader led the 501st Legion of the Galactic Empire’s forces.

Amazon’s Alexa+ just moved into your Bose speaker, if you’re willing to pay the rent
This is a signal that the AI assistant race is expanding well beyond the devices Amazon builds itself.
Alexa+ arrival on Bose speakers.

Amazon has officially expanded its AI assistant, Alexa+, beyond the company’s own hardware. Along with the announcement of its Lifestyle Ultra speakers, Bost has also announced that Alexa+ is coming to its lineup of speakers and soundbars across the United States.

This is a first for any non-Amazon audio brand. What’s even more interesting for me is that the rollout covers both new and existing Bose devices.
