Peacemaker‘s second season will show the titular antihero team up with his pals again in eight new episodes written by Gunn. At this point, the only major change to the series after the DCU’s timeline reboot is that the Justice Gang replaced the Justice League in a season 1 recap.

Season 2 shows a depressed Peacemaker entering another dimension and discovering his alternate self living the dream life he never had with his father and brother. It also shows Rick Flag Sr. seeking vengeance on Peacemaker for the murder of his son in The Suicide Squad.

Along with the show’s core cast, Peacemaker season 2 will feature Frank Grillo (Tulsa King) as Rick Flag Sr., David Denman (The Office) and Keith Smith/Captain Triumph, Sol Rodriguez (Star Trek: Picard) as Sasha Bordeaux, Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live) as A.R.G.U.S. agent Langston Fleury, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag Jr. It will also feature Sean Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy films), Nathan Fillion (Firefly), and Isabela Merced (The Last of Us) reprising their respective Superman roles as Maxwell Lord, Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl.

Peacemaker season 2 premiered on August 21, 2025, on HBO Max.

Supergirl (2026)

Directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Ana Nogueira, this film will adapt Tom King’s recent comic book of the same name. Variety stated that this epic sci-fi story will depict Kara Zor-El as she celebrates her 21st birthday with an intergalactic trip with her dog, Krypto. During her journey, she will team up with a young woman on a quest for revenge against a killer alien pirate.

With House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock portraying Supergirl, the movie will show the Last Daughter of Krypton face off against the comic’s antagonist: Krem of the Yellow Hills (Matthias Schoenaerts). The film will also feature 3 Body Problem actor Eve Ridley playing Ruthye Mary Knolle, the young alien warrior who helps Kara hunt down Krem.

Supergirl will premiere in theaters on June 26, 2026.

Lanterns (2026)

Art of Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart from DC Comics.
DC

Billed by Gunn as a cosmic detective story inspired by True Detective, this series will follow Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart as they investigate a murder in the heart of America. Lanterns have already gathered a veritable team of writers, which includes showrunner Chris Mundy (Ozark), comics scribe Tom King, and Damon Lindelof (HBO’s Watchmen). Directors for the series include James Hawes (Slow Horses), Stephen Williams (Lost), Geeta Vasant Patel (Ahsoka), and Alik Sakharov (The Witcher).

As for the cast, DC has hired Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) and Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) to play Jordan and Stewart, respectively. They will be joined by actors Kelly Macdonald (No Country for Old Men), Garret Dillahunt (Fear the Walking Dead), Poorna Jagannathan (The Night Of), Ulrich Thomsen (Banshee), and Nicole Ari Parker (And Just Like That…).

Lanterns is set to premiere on HBO in early 2026 and will feature eight episodes.

Clayface (2026)

DC Comics / DC Comics

In a surprising but welcome move, DC greenlit writer-director Mike Flanagan’s screenplay for a movie about Batman’s shapeshifting adversary, Clayface. The Hollywood Reporter claims the film will depict Clayface’s origins as an actor whose face is disfigured by a gangster, forcing him to turn to a scientist with an experimental treatment that gives him his powers.

Flanagan is famous for creating modern horror classics like The Haunting of Hill House, The Fall of the House of Usher, Doctor Sleep, and Midnight Mass

Though this will be Flanagan’s first comic book project, he has clearly displayed a strong passion for Clayface with his long-gestating script. The story will present a horror-thriller-tragedy centered around a not-so-villainous version of its titular character, according to Deadline, making it the perfect new film from this horror master.

Since Flanagan is currently working on adaptations of Stephen King’s Carrie and The Dark TowerJames Watkins (Speak No Evil) will direct Clayface.

Actor Tom Rhys Harries (Doctor Who) has been cast as the film’s titular character with co-stars Naomi Ackie (Mickey 17) and Max Minghella (The Handmaid’s Tale). Obi-Wan Kenobi writer Hossein Amini has worked on a new draft of Flanagan’s script. Filming for Clayface began in August 2025 in Liverpool, England.

Clayface is scheduled to premiere on September 11, 2026.

Man of Tomorrow (2027)

Writer-director James Gunn will return to helm this follow-up to 2025’s Superman as the next chapter in the “Superman Saga.” Gunn said on the Stern Show that Man of Tomorrow is as much a movie about Lex Luthor as it is about Superman, and that it will show them having to “work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat.” The story will also be set up by the events of Peacemaker season 2.

Filming will commence around April 2026. David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult are expected to reprise their respective roles as Superman and Lex Luthor.

Man of Tomorrow will be released in theaters on July 9, 2027.

Creature Commandos season 2 (TBA)

A team of animated characters stand in a line in "Creature Commandos."
Max / Max

The new DC Universe officially began with this seven-episode animated series written by James Gunn himself. The show featured Amanda Waller forming a new black-ops team after being banned from putting “human” lives at risk with the Suicide Squad.

This series introduced a more “monstrous” successor to Task Force X led by Rick Flag Sr., starring DC newcomers like Maria Bakalova (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), Anya Chalotra (The Witcher), Zoë Chao, Frank Grillo, David Harbour (Stranger Things season 5), Alan Tudyk (Andor), and Indira Varma (Doctor Who).

In December 2024, Creature Commandos was renewed for a second season.

Batman: Brave and the Bold (TBA)

Batman and Robin in cover image for Batman and Robin Vol. 1 by Grant Morrison.
DC Comics

For the first time in live-action, DC will show Batman fighting crime with his biological son, Damian Wayne/Robin. The film will be directed by Andy Muschietti, best known for helming 2017’s horror hit It and 2023’s The Flash. Though the latter didn’t exactly win over audiences, Muschietti did a fantastic job presenting both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton’s versions of Batman.

Having Muschietti direct a feature-length film about the Dark Knight and his Bat Family should give the Caped Crusader the sprawling and exciting solo film he never got in the DC Extended Universe.

Swamp Thing (TBA)

Derek Mears as Swamp Thing in "Swamp Thing."
DC

Swamp Thing has been described by Gunn as a “very dark horror story” about the origins of the titular monster with a tone outside the rest of the DCU. The film’s production will be led by writer/director James Mangold, who made his mark in the superhero genre with 2017’s smash hit, Logan.

Given the other stories in his filmography, Mangold will likely present a dark, tragic film as he tells the story of Alec Holland as he is reborn as the not-so-jolly green giant.

Waller (TBA)

Viola Davis as Amanda Waller in 2016's "Suicide Squad."
Warner Bros.

Since Amanda Waller is one of DC’s most prominent, non-superpowered characters, her solo show, written by Watchmen‘s Christal Henry, should be one of the more distinctive additions to the DC Universe. And with Viola Davis reprising her role as the sinister Waller, the series should be nothing short of enthralling.

While Waller will be set in the DCU and assemble characters from Peacemaker, Gunn confirmed it won’t be a comedy like the latter show. Nevertheless, Doom Patrol writer Jeremy Carver has signed up to write the series.

Paradise Lost (TBA)

Wonder Woman and the Amazons battling in a panel from DC Comics.
DC

James Gunn stated that this show will present a “story of [Wonder Woman’s birthplace] Paradise Island, usually known as Themyscira,” and it is almost like “Game of Thrones with Westeros, but with all of the inhabitants of Paradise Island.”

It’s unknown how or if Wonder Woman will appear in the story. But for those wishing the Amazonian hero got a third film with Gal Gadot, this series may serve as a close substitute for the time being.

The Authority (TBA)

The Authority in a panel from DC Comics.
DC / DC

Based on the characters made by WildStorm comics, the film will see the members of the Authority come together and interact with the main heroes of the DC Universe. Gunn stated that a writer has been hired for the film, though their identity remains a mystery. However, he later stated in an interview with Happy Sad Confused that the writer has moved on to another DCU movie. In February 2025, Gunn revealed that The Authority hasn’t been much of a priority, as the script has been difficult to write and DC Studios has fast-tracked other big movies.

Since the Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría), a prominent member of WildStorm’s team, was introduced in Superman, she will likely be a part of The Authority after surviving her battle with the Man of Steel.

Booster Gold (TBA)

Booster Gold from DC Comics.
DC Comics / DC Comics

This HBO Max series will follow everyone’s favorite golden boy as he travels from the future to the present day to use his advanced technology to become a superhero and make people love him. Our Flag Means Death creator David Jenkins will serve as the showrunner for Booster Gold.

Gunn claims this series is “basically a superhero story of imposter syndrome,” which should present a unique take on the genre in a world filled with costumed crimefighters.

Untitled Teen Titans film (TBA)

DC Comics

Now that HBO Max’s show Titans has concluded, DC will make way for a new iteration of the team in their recently announced live-action movie. It’s unknown which heroes will make up the titular team.

But since Damian Wayne will be introduced in Batman: Brave and the Bold, it is likely that the events of the film will tie into the Teen Titans, with the young Robin joining the team as he does in the comics. Supergirl‘s writer, Ana Nogueira, will also pen the script for this film.

Whether or not the superhero Starfire will appear in this, please note that the Starfire TV series being produced by DC Studios will be an “Elseworlds” project unrelated to the DCU.

Untitled Blue Beetle series (TBA)

Warner Bros. Pictures

Following 2023’s Blue Beetle, the armored hero will return in this animated sequel series. Actor Xolo Maridueña will reprise his role from the original film as protagonist Jaime Reyes in the show.

According to Deadline, the film’s executive producer, Miguel Puga, will serve as showrunner, and the film’s director and screenwriter, Angel Manuel Soto and Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, will return as EPs for the series.

Untitled Bane and Deathstroke film (TBA)

Bane and Deathstroke from DC Comics.
DC Comics / DC Comics

Two popular members of Batman’s rogues’ gallery, Bane and Deathstroke, will share the spotlight in their own film. The movie currently has no director. However, the project will be penned by Matthew Orton, who co-wrote the script for another superhero blockbuster: Captain America: Brave New World. Filming will reportedly take place in England sometime in 2025.

Sgt. Rock (TBA)

Sgt. Rock in "Creature Commandos."
DC / Warner Bros

Challengers and Queer writer Justin Kuritzkes has been hired to direct a film centered around Sgt. Rock. This obscure character made his debut in the DCU in a flashback in the third episode of Creature Commandos. Sgt. Rock is a boxer-turned-World War II soldier with exceptional strength, endurance, and marksmanship.

Deadline reported that Challengers and Queer director Luca Guadagnino was in talks to direct the film. Though actor Daniel Craig was circling the film’s titular lead role, The Hollywood Reporter stated that he won’t appear in the project. Although Guadagnino is no longer working on the project, the film is reportedly still in development.

Untitled Wonder Woman film (TBA)

Wonder Woman runs to fight in a DC comic book.
DC Comics / DC Comics

Gunn announced the film in June 2025, telling Entertainment Weekly that it is a separate story from HBO’s Paradise Lost. Ana Nogueira is also currently working on the film’s screenplay. It is unknown who will play the film’s titular hero, meaning Gal Gadot is not confirmed to reprise her role as Wonder Woman.

At the same time, the film doesn’t have a director, and it is unclear if Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins will lead the production after her third film in the franchise was canceled.

Mister Miracle (TBA)

Mister Miracle and Big Barda sitting together in a poster for Mister Miracle.
DC Studios / DC Studios

This adult animated series will be based on another acclaimed comic from writer Tom King. The source material follows Scott Free, a superpowered escape artist, as he tries to overcome his depression and trauma and escape death itself at the hands of his adoptive father, Darkseid, and the brainwashing Anti-Life Equation.

DC fans likely remember that Darkseid and the New Gods were explored in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. While DC Studios canceled initial plans for the character with its franchise reset, Mister Miracle implies that it will have much bigger plans for the titular character, as well as Big Barda and Darkseid, in the DC Universe.

Aaron Sorkin is back with The Social Network sequel

Sixteen years ago, The Social Network turned the origin story of Facebook into one of the most acclaimed films of the century. Now, Aaron Sorkin is back, and this time he is writing and directing. Sony Pictures dropped the first full trailer for The Social Reckoning today, and it is exactly as intense as you would hope.

This is technically not a direct sequel but a companion piece, and it is focused on what happened after Facebook grew from a dorm room idea into a platform that reshaped the world, and not always for the better.
