The Force is strong with the new Star Wars trailer

Debuting during halftime on ESPN’s Monday Night Football today, the two minute trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has set the stage for a new epic battle between the light and dark sides of the Force. The trailer dives more into the backstory of newcomers Finn, Rey and Kylo Ren as well as positioning Han Solo as the character that introduces the concept of the Force to Finn and Rey. A new image of Luke Skywalker is mysteriously absent from the trailer though.

Interestingly, tickets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens went on sale around 8 p.m. ET, not the previously estimated time of 10 p.m. ET. Demand for release day tickets has derailed online booking services like Fandango and MovieTickets.com as well as theater chain sites for AMC Theaters, Regal Cinemas and Alamo Draft House. To add insult to injury, ticket scalpers have started posting batches of opening premiere tickets on Craigslist, charging upwards of $100 per ticket.

Of course, Star Was fans are stating their displeasure with the over-stressed state of Fandango’s servers on social media services like Twitter.

Over the past few years, Apple TV has quietly built a library of movies worth watching this weekend, and these three are a good place to start.

This time we have a WWII thriller that Tom Hanks cared enough about to write himself, a redemption story set in small-town Louisiana that will catch you off guard, and a Sundance crowd favorite about the messy, directionless stretch between college and real life.

This weekend's movie recommendations on Peacock are a bit of a wild mix, and that's exactly the point. Bugonia will make you laugh at things you shouldn't, Promising Young Woman will make you seethe at things you recognize, and The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil will make you root for someone you probably shouldn't.

Three very different films, but they all share one thing: nobody in them is playing by the rules, and that's what makes each one of these underrated movies worth your time.

Amazon injects doomscroll-friendly vertical videos in Prime Video app
Prime Video Clips could help you find your next movie in seconds
Adult, Male, Man

Amazon is giving Prime Video a doomscroll button. The streaming app is adding a new feature called Clips, which is a vertical short-form video feed that lets users swipe through scenes from movies, series, and sports without leaving the app. Basically, Prime Video wants a piece of the TikTok, Reels, and Shorts habit, where one funny scene or chaotic moment can do more to sell a show than a polished trailer.

How will Clips work inside Prime Video?
