Watch as Jimmy Fallon learns a lip-sync battle with Tom Cruise is risky business

What a drag it must be to be Jimmy Fallon. It doesn’t seem like he has any fun at all. Whether it’s arm-wrestling Channing Tatum, playing Goldeneye with Pierce Brosnan, or interviewing Morgan Freeman while sucking helium, day in and day out, the late-night host is resigned to a life of boredom.

On Monday, it was more of the same as Fallon was forced to lip-sync battle Tom Cruise in front of a live studio audience.

Okay, enough with the sarcasm. Everything we’ve mentioned so far sounds awesome, and Fallon’s battle with Cruise was just as epic as you might imagine.

It started off with Cruise’s sensual rendition of The Weekend’s Can’t Feel My Face, to which Fallon responded with a pitch-perfect Mick Jagger impression, belting out The Rolling Stones’ Undercover of the Night.

Round 1: Fallon

But then Cruise got frisky — and even threatened to get risky.

As the first few notes of Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock and Roll” played, Cruise slid across the floor, cradling the mic stand … but then took pity on his opponent. “That wouldn’t be fair would it?” Asked Cruise. “Please do not do that,” Fallon replied “that would not be fair.” Busting out a reprisal of one of the most famous moments in the history of lip-syncing could certainly have been considered cheating, so Cruise went with a Meat Loaf classic instead, revving up the crowd with Paradise by the Dashboard Light.

Round 2: Cruise

Since Fallon seemed to know he couldn’t beat ‘em after Cruise crushed his second song, there was only one thing left for the comedian to do.

Fallon joined his opponent for a stirring, harmonious rendition of The Righteous Brothers You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin’ and the two actually knelt down to serenade an unsuspecting (and thoroughly embarrassed) fan.

The Tonight Show host continues to make late-night television loads of fun and seems to have a knack for getting even the most image-conscious celebs to let their guard down. We’re excited to see who will step into the ring with Fallon next.
