Bust out the bubbly? Isla Fisher says there’s ‘talk’ of ‘Wedding Crashers’ sequel

Gather your champagne, Purple Heart, playbook, and whatever else you consider a wedding season essential, because a Wedding Crashers sequel is in the works. Isla Fisher, who starred alongside Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, and Rachel McAdams in the original, confirmed the news during an appearance on Today.

The actress was there to promote her new film, Nocturnal Animals, but the show hosts couldn’t resist asking her about the movie that helped launch her career. They specifically questioned her about sequel prospects, and she shared that one is in the works and recounted how she found out.

“I bumped into Vince Vaughan at a party, and he said that apparently we’re going to be making a sequel,” she said.

Fisher clarified that the Wedding Crashers sequel is not a done deal at this point, but that “there’s some talk of it.” She didn’t reveal any other details, so unfortunately we don’t know anything else about what the future could hold for Gloria (Fisher), Jeremy (Vaughn), John (Wilson), and Claire (McAdams). If anything, Fisher is as curious as the rest of us.

“I’m really excited to see what happened to Gloria,” she said.

The 2005 movie centered on John and Jeremy, divorce mediators with a habit of crashing weddings to hook up with women. When they decide to crash “the Kentucky Derby of weddings,” they meet Gloria and Claire, throwing off their game and inspiring them to break their rules. The comedy did well in theaters, bringing in more than $285 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.

It sounds like there are a lot of steps that need to happen between now and the sequel being released, but we’ll refer the team to Rule Number 76: No excuses, play like a champion.

Watch Fisher discuss the sequel below, starting at 3:10.

They are all free to watch movies on Tubi. So here are my picks for this weekend.

Middle-earth is calling again, and this time it is Gollum leading the way. Warner Bros. officially confirmed a December 2027 theatrical release for The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.

The movie comes with a returning cast of beloved characters, some bold new additions, and a story drawn from the footnotes and appendices of Tolkien's books that was never fully dramatised – and that is exactly what makes it worth telling. Here is everything we know so far about the new LOTR spinoff.
