10 great Huawei P9 cases to protect your new phone

Add as a preferred source on Google

If you’ve managed to get your hands on Huawei’s P9 smartphone, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll want to cover it with a stylish or durable case to protect it. Not only to shield the body of the phone from the elements, but also to prevent any damage befalling the 5.2-inch display or the dual-lens camera, which is one of the P9’s best features. There are three variations of Huawei’s latest — the P9, the P9 Plus, and the P9 Lite — and they all have different dimensions, so you don’t want to accidentally buy the wrong case. These cases are all specifically made for the P9.

Bumper Frame Huawei P9 Case ($19)

This case combines a tough outer shell with a slim design in order to add protection without adding bulk to the phone. The case also features a two-tone design, with the outer edges sporting a sleeker, shinier finish, while the back is more textured to offer a better grip on the phone, hopefully preventing any drops. All ports, connectors, speakers, and buttons are still as accessible as usual, but the buttons get additional protection as the case has metallic covers. All in all, the Bumper Frame lets you use your Huawei P9 like usual, but now you can keep a better hold on it while appreciating its new look.

Love Mei Powerful Protective Case ($25-$45)

This case from Love Mei requires screws to bring the entire thing together, so you know you’re getting something durable that’s ready for adventure. There are several components to Love Mei’s offering, which includes a front cover with a built-in screen protector, an outer bumper, and a back plate to completely seal your phone inside. If that wasn’t enough, there are also removable pieces to cover the charging port and headphone jack, keeping them safe from dirt, dust, or any other substance. It’s shock proof, snow proof, the screen protector is shatter proof, and you can also put it on a lanyard in order to make it theft proof. It’s an expensive case, to be sure, but one that’s well worth the price.

StilGut Cover Book Type Case ($33-$40)

If you prefer to have something with a flip cover that also exudes quality, StilGut’s Book Type case may be something to look into. It’s made out of genuine leather and has been hand measured to fit the Huawei P9 as perfectly as possible. A clip on the side ensures the cover will stay closed to protect the screen, and all of the smartphone’s features and capabilities remain accessible while within the Book Type, including the rear cameras. It doesn’t trigger the display when flipped open, but if that’s not a deal breaker, you can’t go wrong with this particular case. It’s also backed by a two-year warranty, which is always good to have.

Official Huawei P9 Smart View Flip Case ($26-$28)

While this is another flip case that does everything you’d want it to, it does have one unique feature that separates it from the pack, and that’s the smart screen window located on the front of the cover. Using this feature, known as Smart View, people can see their notifications, the time, date, and weather, without needing to open the cover and turn on their phone’s display. Aside from that, it’s made out of high-quality synthetic leather and designed specifically for the Huawei P9, so expect it to fit like a glove.

Pasonomi Hybrid Dual Layer ($8)

Pasonomi’s hybrid case blends together quality protection and style, while also maintaining a low price tag. The case itself is a silicone inner layer joined with a hard outer shell that comes in a wide range of colors like blue, gray, red, silver, and gold. It’s also rather thin, meaning the phone won’t feel much larger in your hand, but it still manages to provide additional grip in specific spots along the edges. Finally, there’s a rectangular kickstand located in the back, so you’re all set to watch videos without needing to constantly hold your phone.

Valkyrie Runic Shield Case ($8)

Like the Pasonomi case above, this is another dual layer case that combines a soft, shock-absorbent core with a hard back for added support. There are raised edges to keep the screen free of any surface when face down. This Huawei P9 case also covers the buttons, but it leaves ports open and easy to get to. The non-slip finish adds some grip, and if you need to remove the case for any reason, it’s incredibly easy to do so because it’s flexible.

EasyAcc Crystal Clear Case ($7)

If you don’t want to cover the design of the Huawei P9, or you don’t want anything too flashy that could draw attention, EasyAcc’s transparent case is for you. That said, it does also bring decent protection to the table, largely thanks to the TPU material it’s made out of. In addition to that, it has raised edges for screen protection, covers the buttons, and makes the phone harder to drop, which is good for such a minimalist case. And if something does go wrong with the case, you can take advantage of the lifetime warranty granted by EasyAcc.

Terrapin TPU Gel Case ($8)

Terrapin’s case for the Huawei P9 comes in a variety of different colors and is ridiculously slim, to the point that the phone’s profile barely changes. Like other cases with svelte designs, it emphasizes its raised edges, flexibility, and snug fit, all of which are things you want from a slim case that won’t radically change how your smartphone looks and feels. The case is made with a very soft and flexible TPU gel, and that may take a small amount of time to get used to, but it does help you to keep a tighter grip on your P9 and it’s really easy to remove, should you want to. Ultimately, it’s a case that favors a slim profile over protection.

Spigen Rugged Armor Case ($12-$20)

Spigen knows how to make quality phone cases, and the Rugged Armor case for the Huawei P9 is no exception. It’s much thinner than its name implies, and doesn’t have the bulky appearance one would expect, but that doesn’t mean it can’t defend your phone as well as others on this list. The Rugged Armor proves it’s up to the task thanks to a spider web design and small gaps of air within that provide additional defense against drops and shocks. The case also has tactile button covers that offer the right amount of feedback to let you know when your button presses are going through. It’s a case with a sleek design and glossy accents, so your phone can be well-guarded, and look good at the same time.

Ringke Fusion Case ($11-$15)

The Fusion case from Ringke is another transparent case that prefers to showcase the Huawei P9’s design rather than cover it with one of its own. Made out of a tough plastic, the Fusion case features a slim design to accentuate the body of the smartphone, but doesn’t forget to offer protection where it counts, such as with the button covers and attached dust caps that, when closed, will protect the headphone jack and charging ports from any harmful dust or dirt. Don’t expect to see as much dirt and dust on the phone anyway, since the case has been made with Anti-Static capabilities to reduce the amount of particles that can potentially stick to it. You don’t want any blemishes on your crystal clear case, right?

Amazon Kindle Scribe Colorsoft review: The luxury ride to digital note-taking
It wants to be your indispensable digital diary, but it will test your Kindle loyalty, too.
Amazon Kindle Scribe

Quick Take

The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is a new breed of e-readers from Amazon. Aside from being your reading companion, it also wants to double as your trusty note-taking device. And it does a terrific job at serving as a digital diary. The color display does a fine job of replicating the sensation of writing on paper, without any of the input lag woes you would notice on an ordinary tablet.

Apple’s foldable is keeping Camera Control, but one-handed photography on a big foldable sounds tricky
Apple went through some serious engineering gymnastics to make it happen, but is it worth it?
Electronics, Mobile Phone, Phone

Apple's first foldable iPhone has been the subject of countless leaks, and the latest one comes from Weibo leaker Instant Digital. As reported by Notebookcheck, the leak suggests that the iPhone Fold will include the Camera Control button, despite being thinner than the iPhone Air when unfolded.

That's no small feat. Fitting the Camera Control button into a device that slim must have required some serious engineering work on Apple's part. But apparently, Apple felt it was worth it.

Your iPhone is getting smarter: Here’s what Apple Intelligence can do in iOS 27
Electronics, Mobile Phone, Phone

Apple has been steadily building out Apple Intelligence since its debut, and iOS 27 could be the most ambitious update to that effort yet.
