What’s happened? A recent leak about the next Pixel Drop suggested that Google might shake up its release schedule and ship the update in November instead of December. While the leak didn’t get the exact date right, the Pixel Drop is indeed rolling out now.

  • As indicated in the leak, the November 2025 Pixel Drop introduces a new theme packs feature, which is debuting with a “Wicked: For Good” pack featuring three themes inspired by the upcoming movie: For Good, Glinda, and Elphaba. These themes let users customize their Pixel’s wallpaper, icons, system sounds, and GIFs with just a tap.
  • The update also includes the Nano Banana-powered Remix feature for Google Messages, first spotted last month, along with scam detection for messages from popular chat apps.
  • In addition, the Pixel Drop brings an improvement for the Pixel VIPs feature, which now prioritizes message notifications from selected contacts and shows a crisis badge in the Contacts widget.
  • It also introduces personalized edits in Google Photos, a power-saving mode in Google Maps, and broader availability for Pixel’s Scam Detection and Call Notes features.

Why is this important? The new theme packs make it easier for users to personalize the look and feel of their Pixel without manually changing wallpapers, icons, system sounds, or GIFs.

  • The Remix feature in Google Messages lets users edit and reimagine images using Nano Banana right within the app before sharing them with friends.
  • The notification summaries feature helps users quickly get a gist of longer conversations across chat apps right in the notifications shade.
  • Priority notifications from Pixel VIPs ensure users never miss an alert from key contacts, while crisis badges keep them posted on critical alerts.
  • Personalized edits in Google Photos improves the “Help me edit” feature, allowing users to request changes for specific people in photos, as long as their faces are labeled in the app.
  • The scam detection feature for messages from popular chat apps extends protection to messages from third-party chat apps, automatically flagging suspicious message notifications and helping users stay safe even if they don’t use Google Messages.
  • Lastly, the Power Saving mode in Google Maps offers a simplified layout with essential information like upcoming turns to extend battery life.

Why should I care? If you daily drive a Google Pixel phone, the November 2025 Pixel Drop brings a host of new features to explore, along with some useful quality-of-life and security improvements.

  • The new theming system offers a quick and easy way to customize your phone, while personalized edits in Google Photos and the Remix feature in Google Messages enhance your phone’s AI-powered image editing capabilities.
  • Thanks to the Pixel VIPs upgrade, message alerts from your VIP contacts will now appear at the top of the notifications shade. In addition, when you receive a potential scam text on a popular messaging app, your Pixel will show a “Likely scam” alert on notifications.
  • The power saving mode in Google Maps will ensure you reach your destination safely, even if you’re low on battery.
  • Lastly, with notifications summaries, you’ll now be able to easily catch up on busy group chats without going through each text.

What’s next? Google says the November 2025 Pixel Drop has already started rolling out to supported Pixel devices, and the update should reach all users in the coming days.

  • Google Messages’ Remix feature will be available on all Android devices in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, and New Zealand. It will require users to enable RCS messaging, and it will only support prompts in English at launch. Google plans to bring it to more regions with support for additional languages in the future.
  • The new theme packs, scam detection in messages, and priority notification from Pixel VIPs will be available on Pixel 6 and newer models.
  • The notification summaries feature is limited to Pixel 9 and above (excluding the Pixel 9a), while Google Maps’ power saving mode is exclusive to the Pixel 10 series.
  • Personalized edits in Google Photos will be available on all Android devices in the US.
  • Google is also expanding the availability of Pixel’s scam detection feature to users with a Pixel 9 or above in the US, Ireland, India, Australia, and Canada. Gemini-powered Call Notes is also making it to Pixel 9 and newer models in Australia, Canada, the UK, Ireland, and Japan.

My camera roll has crossed 8,000 photos, and it got there by capturing random moments (only to forget them later). The problem, however, starts when someone asks me to share something specific. It could be their portrait from last weekend or the food pictures they snapped using my phone.

Finding those pictures usually means scrolling through my seemingly endless camera roll. If the photo is a month or two old, I end up scrolling past hundreds of other images to find it, and that gets old fast.

Forget Apple’s AirTag, Motorola’s new Android tracker lasts over 500 days and costs less too
Moto Tag 2 could be the AirTag Android users actually buy
Moto Tag 2 with car keys

Motorola is finally bringing out its second-generation Android smart tracker. While Apple's AirTag has been hogging the limelight, the Moto Tag 2 is the new rival in town, arriving in North America starting June 30. It brings UWB (Ultra Wideband) tracking support, Bluetooth Channel Sounding, and Google Find Hub support in a compact tracker built for keys, bags, luggage, camera gear, and anything else people keep misplacing.

The real headline, though, is the battery life. Motorola claims that this is its longest-lasting smart tracker yet, with more than 500 days of battery life from a replaceable CR2032 battery.
