OnePlus 15’s little brother could surprisingly have better battery life than the flagship

The result could be a mid-range device with endurance levels that genuinely rival, or even surpass, today’s high-end phones.

What’s happened? The Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has revealed key design and hardware details about the Ace 6T, ahead of its China launch. Soon, the handset could debut in the United States as the OnePlus 15R.

  • The OnePlus Ace 6T will feature an 8,000 mAh battery, the largest OnePlus has ever used in a smartphone.
  • Regarding design, the phone will feature a flat frame, ultra-narrow bezels, and three colorways: black, green, and violet (via Weibo).

Why is this important? Many budget performance smartphones available in the United States compromise on battery size or longevity.

  • Hence, an 8,000 mAh battery is a standout specification that addresses a common pain point: battery anxiety.
  • For buyers in the United States, a massive battery and strong performance mean the phone will spend less time charging and more time in their hands.

Why should I care? If you’re looking for a performance phone without flagship pricing, the OnePlus 15R could be a sweet spot.

  • An 8,000 mAh battery could mean longer real-world usage, potentially around 2 days.
  • Moreover, the phone bridges the gap between mid-range and flagship smartphones, outperforming the more expensive OnePlus 15 in battery life.
  • Even if you don’t buy the smartphone, it will encourage other manufacturers to up their game on battery in the budget performance segment.

OK, what’s next? Leaks also suggest that the OnePlus Ace 6T or the OnePlus 15R could debut with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC.

  • For now, the OnePlus Ace 6T is confirmed to launch in China, but it should also arrive in the United States, given that the OnePlus 13R arrived here.
  • I expect the OnePlus 15R to arrive at around $600, which will help the company build a strong market presence and offer buyers a value-for-money proposition.

Android 17 makes your internet controls way less frustrating
Google is splitting Wi-Fi and mobile data in Quick Settings, and it should save you extra taps.
Nature, Night, Outdoors

Android 17 is fixing one of the most irritating parts of using your phone, its internet controls. If you’ve ever tried to switch off Wi-Fi quickly and got pulled into an extra menu instead, this update is aimed right at that moment.

In Android 17 Beta 3, Google is changing how those toggles work in Quick Settings. Instead of grouping everything under a single tile, the system now separates Wi-Fi and mobile data, so you can manage each one without going through another screen.
