Apple’s iOS 26 smart boarding passes are finally beginning to appear

What’s happened? At WWDC earlier this year, Apple previewed new smart boarding passes in iOS 26 to use in Wallet. These promised live flight updates, airport navigation, and checked-bag tracking inside the Find My app. Now United Airlines is one of the first big carriers to support the new format.

United’s updated boarding passes now show live flight progress using Live Activities on the lock screen, according to 9to5Mac.
Travelers can view airport maps directly in Wallet for easier navigation.
Bag tracking integrates with Find My for real-time luggage updates.
Apple says more airlines, including Delta, American, Air Canada, and Qantas, will roll out support soon.

This is important because: It marks Apple’s biggest push yet to make Wallet central to travel. Beyond digital tickets, it’s now a live, interactive travel hub.

United’s early adoption signals a broader shift toward real-time travel automation on iPhone.
