Storage and accessory maker Verbatim has announced it is expanding its line of desktop hard drives to include new 500 GB and 1 TB models featuring four interfaces: USB 2.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800, and eSATA II. The drives weigh 3.3 pounds, measure 8.7 by 5.9 by 1.5 inches, use a black aluminum case, and feature 3.5-inch, 7200RPM drive mechanisms. They can be used with Windows 2000/XP/Vista or Mac OS X 10.1 or newer.

“Our new 500GB and 1TB Desktop HDDs offer many advantages for editing and storing high-density applications, compared to using two or three smaller HDDs,” said Verbatim’s director of marketing for HDD products Charles Klinker, in a statement. “For example, a single Verbatim 1TB solution only costs about 25 cents per GB and consumes less power than multiple lower-capacity HDDs. It also provides the convenience of being able to store, transport, and backup all of your digital content without having to span disks.”

The drives ship with Nero BackItUp 2 Essentials (for Windows) as a backup solution. The drives come with a three-year warranty, and ship with an AC power cable, along with appropriate USB, FireWire, and eSATA cabling. The drives are available now, with the 500 GB version carrying a suggested price of $179.99 and the 1 TB version going to $249.99.

Verbatim also offers 500 GB and 1 TB external HDDs with just USB interfaces, along with USB/FireWire and USB/eSATA interfaces.

The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D is down to $573.99 in a limited-time deal, a $125 saving off its $699 list price, and it represents something AMD hadn't offered before: a 3D V-Cache processor with a high enough core count to handle demanding creative and professional workloads without sacrificing the gaming performance that cache stacking delivers. For anyone running one machine for everything, this is the processor the 9000 series has been building toward.
