Vision makes his debut in new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer

Marvel Studios has unveiled another trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the latest preview for the upcoming superhero movie is packed with new footage — including the first glimpse of Vision, the android superhero played by Paul Bettany who will make his debut in the film.

Clocking in at just over two minutes, the new trailer is surprisingly devoid of recycled clips from previous trailers, with Marvel opting to use previously unreleased scenes to contextualize the evil robot Ultron’s plans to eradicate humanity, and to offer an even greater tease of what’s to come when Age of Ultron hits theaters in May. Among the highlights are a few additional, impressive moments from Iron Man’s battle with Hulk while wearing the “Hulkbuster” armor, and a sequence featuring the Avengers circling up to brawl with a seemingly endless horde of Ultron clones.

And in the trailer’s final, blink-and-you-miss-it scene, Vision can be glimpsed raising his head and opening his eyes to look at the camera.

The role Bettany’s character will play in the film — and exactly how he’ll look on the screen — has been one of the more closely-guarded secrets of Avengers: Age of Ultron, with only some text and images from promotional merchandise and hints from Bettany himself during production to indicate anything about the character.

There’s also no shortage of carnage to be seen in the trailer, as well as a cryptic suggestion from Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) that the whole team isn’t likely to make it out of their confrontation with Ultron alive.

Directed by Joss Whedon, Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1, 2015.
