It’s funny: some of LaCie’s hard disk products keep getting bigger, adding more bays and more capacity, while others keep getting smaller. LaCie’s latest update to its Little Disk form factor packs either a 30 or 40 GB 1.3-inch hard disk drive into a package that barely fills the palm of your hand, offering a solution for folks who need portable storage but don’t have much room to carry it.

The 30 and40 GB Little Disks pack 1.3-inch, 3,600 rpm hard disk drives from Samsung, which were designed to offer the most efficient use of capacity per volume. “The development of these small products was enabled due to Samsung’s new 1.3-inch technology that offers a small footprint with vast capacity improvement,” said LaCie mobile product manager Nolwenn Rozen, in a statement. “By using this technology in these new mobile offerings, LaCie was able to see an increase in maximum capacity from 12GB to 40GB.” The Little Disk’s operate off power from a USB 2.0 port and operate without drives on Mac OS X 10.2 or newer, Windows 2000/XP/Vista, and Linux systems. The 30 GB version of the Little Disk is $129.99, with the 40 GB version retailing for $159.99.

The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D is down to $573.99 in a limited-time deal, a $125 saving off its $699 list price, and it represents something AMD hadn't offered before: a 3D V-Cache processor with a high enough core count to handle demanding creative and professional workloads without sacrificing the gaming performance that cache stacking delivers. For anyone running one machine for everything, this is the processor the 9000 series has been building toward.
